The First Tangible Result of the Biden Administration: Getting the Band Back Together

Fun Fact: One of my favourite albums is The New Radicals' Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too. The band ended up breaking up a few months after the release of the album for reasons that appear to be related to "You Get What You Give" making them a one-hit wonder (I've heard that either Gregg Alexander broke up after it became a huge hit, deciding it had fulfilled its purpose or that he was frustrated by the fact that executives were badgering him to write another hit after "Someday We'll Know" underperformed, but before he figured out "The Game of Love".)
And, while it may take time for the Biden administration to give results on things like the COVID vaccine, police brutality, climate change, or the impeachment of Donald Trump, it looks like there's going to be one good thing that's coming almost immediately out of Biden's presidency: Gregg's getting the band back together.
Literally the only problems I have with the album:
* Nothing more than the original album, not even a special anniversary edition with the B-sides and single edits.
* The CD's foil layer was a bit fragile and prone to disc rot, so I had to buy two copies before I finally just digitised it.

Quote:The New Radicals will reunite for the first time in over 20 years to perform “You Get What You Give” as part of the Biden-Harris administration’s virtual “Parade Across America” event.
The 1998 hit single resurfaced on the 2020 campaign trail as the handpicked walk-on song for Vice President-elect’s husband Doug Emhoff – the soon-to-be Second Gentleman – during rallies.
“If there’s one thing on Earth that would possibly make us get the band together, if only for a day, it is the hope that our song could be even the tiniest beacon of light in such a dark time,” frontman Gregg Alexander said in a statement.
“America knows in its heart that things will get bright again with a new administration and a real plan for vaccines on the way. That’s the message of the song… this world is gonna pull through.”
The hit also has a deep connection with the Biden family: In Joe Biden’s 2017 autobiography, Promise Me, Dad, he wrote that “You Get What You Give” became the family’s rallying “theme song” for son Beau Biden during his battle with cancer.

Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.
