Incredulous Logic

That's why I said comprehension matters. I never said the Bible said anything about gravity, I said it gave a justification for the principle of induction (which I have provided to you) which makes science possible. You would not have any basis for even believing that the law of gravity will apply tomorrow in an atheistic world. You have not provided me with this justification to date, even though you live your life like you have it. So I will just assume as an atheist you cannot give a justification for the principle of induction until you prove otherwise.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's it? Yeah, I figured you'd punt on that one, it's what you do when things get tough.

It's never occurred to you that you have absolutely no idea how I live my life, has it? That I don't give you the time of day on such questions is a point of pride for me. You can declare what my position must be all day long, and argue against it, but in the end you're arguing with yourself. I just like to encourage you.

Sure I do. Everything you do in your daily life assumes that there is uniformity in nature, that the forces that govern your existence today will still govern your existence tomorrow. So you claim to be an atheist, even though you live your life like a Bible believer.

You don’t bother answering my challenge because you know you can’t answer it, atheists have struggled over the issue of induction for centuries and it is still not resolved today.

Live my life like a bible believer..lol, guess that means I'll have to give up the sin and sodomy, or at least start feeling bad about it.
You live your life like a Sha naqba īmuru believer, which gives a basis for induction (and is older than the bible)

Doesn't work for you does it?

But we know the process that attracts the ball to the ground.
We understand gravity.

you cant just say.

and so you have 'god'.

The principle of induction is boiled down in that wall of text to.

Quote:given any appearance, we may take it to be real, until and unless it is found to be illusory.

This neatly moves the burdon of proof away from the person making the claim and as such can be easily dismissed as a rather crude ploy at manipulating the handling of evidence.Wink Shades

As to the article you presented, I realize what the principle of induction is; the problem is that if we did live in an atheistic universe there would be no way to justify this principle. In other words there would be no logical basis for believing in the principle of induction. This is why Hume was so critical of science, because it was based on a principle that had absolutely no justification in a purely naturalistic universe. The Christian Theist has no problem with induction or science for that matter because God revealed in scripture that He will uphold His creation in a predictable and uniform matter allowing us to make predictions and empirically acquire knowledge about the world around us.

Then the christian theist should have no issue discarding parts of his text that are clearly in contradiction to His predictable and uniform creation as the misinterpretations of man. Things like biblical cosmology, global floods, exodus accounts, etc.

Global floods are not in contradiction to God's upholding of His creation. He gave His people a warning of the flood's coming, they didn't heed the warning. He will never bring another global flood though, so that does not factor into my principle of induction.
