There is no such thing as a spirit or soul. If there was then anesthesia would not work and we'd be awake in the middle of operations while being cut up, alcohol and drugs would not have an effect on our feelings, decision making and neurodegenerative diseases would have no effect on memories and you couldn't get knocked unconscious. You are your brain. Nothing else. Once your brain is gone, so are you.

When you'll die there will be no you to realise that you are dead. If you have ever been put under for an operation you'll know what it will be like. Consciousness will cease. No dreams. Nothing.

GC thinks we evolved as a vessel purely to store our soul and consciousness.

Couldn't be more further from the truth. Our evolutionary truth is there in plain sight to see, dissect and analyse ...

With blinders, at least one still still sees what is a sliver of reality.

With Christianity one plucks out one’s eyes to avoid seeing any reality as none of reality would be as one’s inner infant might wish. In doing so the Christian might gladden his mean yet juvenile and pretentious heart with words ascribed to an alledged overlord who is still said to be kind and loving: And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

Proof please, insinuations are not fact.

I take it you're speaking from experience, but wait, why you are alive you can't possibly know what you claim.

Oh right so it's OK to talk about Mr God as if he was a fact but when someone says the contrary you demand proof. Not even evidence but proof. Shows that you want to believe what you want to believe.

Read the medical literature. Or the neuroscience literature and look at all the recorded effects of brain lesions. Or have an operation where you are put under with anesthetic. Or go to an old folk's home and speak to someone with Alzheimer's. Or get drunk and take drugs. See how the way you think and feel and the very essence of who you are changes because of how your brain is interfered with.

Now give me equally compelling evidence that your god exists.

Science baby. It means that we can determine these things collectively rather than rely on individual experience.

There is no god. When you die, that's it. Nothing.

Wrong shows I know what I know and will accept nothing less.

Read the medical literature. Or the neuroscience literature and look at all the recorded effects of brain lesions. I have. Or have an operation where you are put under with anesthetic. I have. Or go to an old folk's home and speak to someone with Alzheimer's. I have. Or get drunk and take drugs. I have.  See how the way you think and feel and the very essence of who you are changes because of how your brain is interfered with. I have.

Bold is mine and an answer to each inquiry. Those answers show I understand what I'm saying. I know for a fact God is real and that is the requirement of God from me and I have accepted this. It's your requirement too, that is if you desire to escape the eternal punishment you are making for yourself. Atheist accuse God of being an eternal punisher, He is not, why because you are the one causing your on punishment, no one has forced you, you've willingly chosen this fate unless you change. Like I said I've seen and done those things and know that they have nothing to do with the spirit/soul that resides within me.

Science as you want it is fictional, I personally enjoy good science and look for it. Science will never disprove God as you seem to think it has already do and there are many atheist scientist that will tell you the same thing, baby. When science has no answer for the spirit/soul then there is no way it can prove nor disprove it. Like I have always said I can not prove God to you because you want what is not possible for me to give, you need to ask God, never know He might surprise you.

So you claim to be familiar with the literature on neuroscience? So you know that lesions in the brain mean that you lose vital neural functions? Things that make you you. That means that the brain is the cause of who we are.

Take Phineas Gage for example whose entire personality changed when he suffered brain damage because an iron rod went through this head.

Quote:It seems that physically, Gage made a good recovery, but his injury may have had a permanent impact on his mental condition. Although accounts from the time are sometimes conflicting and often unreliable, numerous sources report that Gage’s character altered dramatically after his accident. In 1868 Harlow wrote a report on the ‘mental manifestations’ of Gage’s injuries. He described Gage as “fitful, irreverent, indulging at times in the grossest profanity… capricious and vacillating” and being “radically changed, so decidedly that his friends and acquaintances said he was ‘no longer Gage’.”

The damage to Gage’s frontal cortex caused by the iron rod seems to have resulted in a loss of social inhibitions. The role of the frontal cortex in social cognition and decision making is now well-recognised; in the 19th century, however, neurologists were only just beginning to realise these connections. Gage’s injuries provided some of the first evidence that the frontal cortex was involved in personality and behaviour.

This would not be the case if a spirit / soul was what made us who we are. No, we are our brains. Nothing else. And that means that when we physically die our consciousness stops. This is why we're able to be made unconscious through anesthetic or brain damage (What do you think is happening when you get knocked unconscious?).

And if it's only our brain that is the cause of consciousness, it means that we can't be resurrected and judged by your god. The evidence is all around us and is common place knowledge for why your belief is incorrect.

I suppose everyone would change simply because something went through their brain and they should be thankful they are alive. I never said lesions wouldn't alter the brain function, I sure it could. Reset of answer below.

You have no proof against my knowledge of God and you do not listen very well either, let me try again. God has said that man has a sinful nature, that would be the craving of self and that would be the function of the brain, with me so far. The soul/spirit is the part of man that has the ability to understand God and who He is, it is the part of man that can communicate with God, it is the part of man that can be used to override the self entered need of the brain. It is our control to be moral beings according to who God is. Understand.
