Happy father's day to all the cool dads on here! I'm spending the day with my parents and hubby's parents, going to check out a new beach. Not NUDE beach...new beach. Dodgy

It's weird, I have had quite a volatile relationship with my dad over the years. Very. He was somewhat abusive to me as a kid, but in his eyes, he'd deny that. ''It's for your own good,'' but really? Was it? When I have kids, there will be no harshness like I grew up with. But, he has apologized to me and a few years ago, we mended fences. I see him in a new light, and cut him a break. He's a good dad, has always taken care of our family, and despite his flaws, I love him.

I can't wait to see his face today, when I tell him about my newfound interest in Wicca. Big Grin He is still upset I left the Catholic Church.

There;s a wide gulf between how we see our fathers as children and who our fathers are.  We kindof set ourselves up for failure, in that regard.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Your father will probably encourage you to keep searching and be cautious to find the truth and not just what you desire. I doubt he will be upset.

I suspect someone has an interest in nude beaches...

That's so true, BUT....he was too harsh when I was a kid. He admits it. But, he apologized, so....
I'll never forget, but I've forgiven.

We barely talked about it lol but, he laughed, surprisingly. He takes his faith seriously, and I respect that.

hahaha It's a long story, kind of an inside joke with someone here.  Blush

Well, today was great. Went to the beach, and it was super crowded. But, the water was so nice, warmish...the sand was burning hot. So hot for June, already.

Sometimes, I wonder about life. My life, and how it relates to others' lives. How I can read a situation, and think I really get it, but a few days later, I find out, that I read the entire situation all wrong. That I assumed all the wrong things.

Wouldn't it be great, if every single day...you could not assume anything. You could just look at new situations and new people, and not attach anything to them. Just let them play out as they should, instead of writing the narrative. I want to be that person. If there were ever an existential bucket list, that would be on it.

To stop assuming and to let myelf be surprised, either way.

Every now and then, someone surprises me, in a good way. You assume someone is judging you...they're being a bit of a tool...and then, out of nowhere, there's respect and understanding. They surprise you, in a good way.

And your faith in humanity has once again, been restored. Heart

By the way, while I don't agree with your religious views, I admire your tenacity to ''defend'' your faith.
