To be somewhat fair, and while I agree, they are gullible and mislead with the argument "An object can't do anything on it's own". That part is true. But if that society has a shitty attitude about that object, it is far easier to let people get a hold of that object who should not have them. Just like religion too. A Koran or bible are just objects, but if the wrong person picks it up, you end up with the KKK or Isis. The worst part is the same with cars. The car industry screamed and shouted that they would go out of business if they were forced to add seat belts, but what do you know, cars still exist. Now we have the potential to move to smart guns, but no, cant have that. 
Reduce the number of guns and you reduce the number of shootings. This doesn't require a lot of thought.

Everybody was armed would everybody be safe? Think about it. If everybody was armed every idiot would be armed. Just like now.
This latest shooting is, disturbingly, a convergence of lax gun laws and Trump's open and malign encouragement of violence against Jews, blacks, Latinos, women, who else have I missed.
Let's not forget a guy shot and killed 2 black people in a Kentucky grocery store only 3 days ago, after he attempted entry into a predominantly black church. Ignorance and malice are as American as baseball and apple pie. -Teresa
