We put animals in cages and eat them. Why God should deny himself pleasure of abusing humans? If he exists like described in popular religion, we are doomed. But yet again, our courts, prison and farms aren't as insanely brutal as God's many years or 50k year torture.
Well, we are extremely primitive creatures in comparison, driven by evolutionary traits. Some sort of superbeing would, I expect, be above casual sadism. It could give itself whatever pleasure it wanted without actually harming anything. Even I wouldn’t want to hurt anything for fun, no matter how powerful I became.
The weird characters religions describe are generally just overgrown humans, and pretty shitty ones at that. It would be a very weird coincidence if this turned out to be the truth.

I would say no, taking aside I don't believe in a god for a moment, the idea sounds way too much like what people of the time (who believed in an underworld) would make up after looking at volcanic activity.
Fire, sulphur, brimstone.. The whole concept from beginning to end is ridiculous.

If you want to debate, start by defining what you want to debate clearly. Hell has a lot of different definitions, even among a particular faith like Christianity there are many different sects with different beliefs about hell.
Anyway, most known concepts do share a common theme of being a place of torture in the afterlife, and since no one till date has been able to prove an afterlife or even the existence of consciousness after our brain functions cease, we can safely dismiss assertions of what happens in the afterlife till proper evidence is presented.

oh that's easy... just a casual reading of the bible without cherrypicking is proof enough!

No matter how much a sadist you consider a being to be, torturing for an eternity is bound to get boring at some point!

*1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

FYI moron, the planet in it's 4 billion year old history has been a fireball, and an iceball. What did not happen and is physically impossible is 40 days of rain worldwide as the bible would imply. Earth formed 4.56 bya, Moon formed 4.5 bya from the Theia's impact with Earth which resulted in Earth losing water volume from its initial condition which was more than current.
