If people were banned for being stupid, y'all would start dropping like flies... Says the troll. This will be the last response I make to your stupidity. Anyone who responds to your stupid trolling is on their own.

Yeah, Huggy considers us all stupid and yet hangs around here all the time.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

OP. There is a definition. Sadly, people have their own interpretation of the definition.
OK, personally, I am ignostic, as are others here also. So I cannot have a belief whatsoever (irrespective of definitions), if I don't understand the question. Do you have a stance, an opinion, a belief, a claim, a theory, a hypothesis on the subject of "DFHGRT YRT YURTYFN"?
That's how I and many see the issue of atheism. It's just a non issue.
Nobody needs to claim or propose that they don't collect stamps. No-one is required to make or assert a negative claim for anything.
You can't categorize a null topic.

Yeah, Huggy considers us all stupid and yet hangs around here all the time.
I consider someone stupid when they say something stupid, I don't think everyone falls into that category, but I can't say the same about you unfortunatley...
(February 2, 2018 at 1:21 pm)Fake Messiah Wrote: I think it is very obvious that Bible was written by many, many people over the years who didn't even read what people before them wrote so there are so many inconsistencies that for every claim in the Bible you can find the opposite claim or place of happening. Like, most Christians if you ask them will tell you that Moses got commandments on Mount Sinai and yet in some parts of the Bible it is claimed he got them on Mount Horeb 1 Kings 8.9 "There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb."
Malachi 4.4 "Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments."
And that's how it is about everything from is lying ok or not, stealing, hating, adultery, divorce, nature of god character, who is ruling the world (sometimes it's Satan) and so on and on. So it is impossible to live by the Bible not only because it's frequently barbaric, but because it's contradictory. *emphasis mine*
It obviously never occurred to you that the same place could be referred to by different names.

Except you said that we are all stupid here, but yeah it is clear that you don't know what you are thinking and that it doesn't matter so that's why you constantly try to backpedal what you say.

What I said was "If people were banned for being stupid, y'all would start dropping like flies..." that clearly does not mean what you think it means.
Oh I forgot to mention, under Fireballs rules, you'd deserve a ban for that post...

There seems to be another conversation going on but anyway...
I'm still in shock from learning about atheist churches.
I did some digging and I've still got my face in my hands just shaking my head saying WTF.
It's like a religious cult without a God. Well it's definitely a church without a God... I seriously need time to get my head around that first b4 saying anymore...
I feel u guys don't want to put into that belief box.
U dont want people like me to say "well it's a belief just like theism".
I'd say atheism is a belief based on lack of evidence. Of course I accept that's not how people define it so I'll move on.
Im willing to continue discussion but I'm asking u guys to give me definition in simple terms.
Some people say oh their only words. Watch a proper debate at college. Half the time they are defining terms. Also in court terms are always defined.
So I don't buy this don't get caught up in definitions. I think it might also be a logic fallacy of some kind.
Without us all understanding the definition, a logical conversation is impossible.
Do I refer to it as the atheist position or view? Is there any objections to that? Based on lack of evidence??? U guys tell me...
Christianity is a religion based on faith
Agnosticism is a position based on knowledge
Atheism is a " " " " based on " " " "
Thats all I want. A clear simple reference to the American atheists definition for me to work with.
If I'm wasting my time looking for a logical conversation here please just tell me to move on...

I have never believed. I have never felt the need to put a label on that.

I have no idea why you are struggling with this, but anyway...
First, words do not have intrinsic meanings, they have usages.
Atheism has a loose usage whereby it includes many things which have in common a lack of belief in a deity or a belief in the non-existence of any deity.
Atheism also has a strict usage, whereby it means only a lack of belief in any deity and nothing else.
Where's the beef?
