Help me with Nintendo Switch game choice

Mario Odyssey.
I have a Switch, and I'm not into it as much as the Xbox/PS4, but that game is legit. It easily exceeded my expectations and I think it's fun + simple enough for kids. Mario Tennis Aces might be a good choice too. I don't have that one, but I have the Wii U version, and this one is an improved version of that, so should be decent for kids. If they like RPG, then maybe Zelda: BOTW or Octopath Traveler. Or you could go with with Let's Go Eevee or Pikachu. If they want something a bit more for kids, then maybe Splatoon 2.
Zelda and Mariokart are the givens...got my kids a switch earlier this year and they play those two games almost exclusively. They have splatoon but never play it. Fortnite you can dl for free.
I was thinking of getting them diablo and tennis for christmas.

I have to admit I'm afraid to buy Diablo III. I LOVED D2, and I don't want to get my heart broken.
I'm already getting Mario Odyssey with the game package, and I'm 100% going to buy Mario Kart. Zelda and a couple of the JRPGs look awesome for me to solo later, but I think I need a game that I can really sit down and play with the kids. Anyone tried Rocket League? Mario Party is a great family game. I grew up on those games, as well as Mario Kart. So many wonderful memories!
I'm not sure how you feel about fighting games, for your 8 year old at least, but Super Smash Bros Ultimate looks like another great addition to the franchise. I played the original Nintendo 64 game back when I was 6 or 7, it's a great competitive game to play with family, and isn't overly violent.

The requirement to be online was a great outrage to me, and d2 was entertaining. My 6 year old nephew loves all the loot and collecting stuff. A level 37 demon hunter, but he has the grasp of it. I've had my Switch for about 4 months and that is the only game that I got drawn in to and bothered to finish. There were a few parts that made me want to throw the controller at the TV, but then it turned out to be me and not the game. Two others worth considering are Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker and Hyrule Warriors. I played them on the WiiU, but I think they are pretty much the same, except more content on Hyrule Warriors. |
