Quote: It's a definition.  Seriously, is it really this difficult to understand?

If you ask me to define the animal "cat", I don't need to hand you a book explaining what a cat is.  A short excerpt from a dictionary should do just fine.

a : a carnivorous mammal (Felis catus) long domesticated as a pet and for catching rats and mice

b : any of a family (Felidae) of carnivorous usually solitary and nocturnal mammals (such as the domestic cat, lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, cougar, wildcat, lynx, and cheetah)
It's a terrible definition that doesn't explain anything nor is it equal to the definition of a cat . It's way more ambiguous .

I suggest to work a little bit on your definition.

Okay... so how is your dictionary more objective than, say, The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language? Or the Concise Oxford English Dictionary? Or Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary? Or Webster's Third New International Dictionary?

Which dictionary is the more objective?

So, how does your 'approved' definition actually fit within that which is objective reality?

What does it mean to be 'Perfect'? What does it mean to be/have 'Power'? What determines the quality 'Wisdom'? People worship all sorts of things and have done so through out human (And hominid) history.

Worshipiing something does not make it 'real'... under the caveat that people have worshipped objective things, such as mountains etc.

So... how is your definition in any way, shape or form even remotely 'objective'?

For that matter... how is your definition 'Objective' and not your personal, subjective choice... Simply because you like that particular dictionary's definition and not some other particular dictionary's definition?

When I post the word 'Car'. A nebulous image comes to mind.

When I post the words 'Model T' a far more objective and refined idea is portrayed, would you agree?

You're complicating something that is simple, or at least should be.  You can use whatever definition for something you like.  It's your choice.  But if we're just exchanging how we personally define something, then it will be just more round-n-round, since we're not going to agree.  I'm not interested in this.  Happy to agree to disagree, and leave it at that.

Lol, IMHO Max is not a troll. He is like the theist version of Hammy. Bloats threads in that particular way.

@M4x: do you have a brother that is atheist and lives in the UK? Big Grin

Bloating?  Not intentionally, but I don't have a magic wand to make some people stop bothering me with the same nonsense repeatedly, when I ask them nicely to let it go.  It's not only annoying, but it's boring.  Guess I could block them, but not really my thing.

No brothers who are atheists.

I don't know why this topic is always so difficult, just remove the words "atheist" and "theist" and ask yourself is not believing a belief.

I didnt bring this BS definition up, you did. You gave the criteria, and they were pretty darn clear, werent they? Too bad you suck at playing your own game by your own rules.
But you dont care anyhow, do you, because you cheat (lie) anyway when you cant argue yourself out of your selfmade paperbag? So why bother about playing properly, when you can, at any time you want, morph into a pidgeon and fly to the chessboard....

You are basically facepalming yourself. Like Trump, i have to tell you, people arent laughing with you now.

 Whaaaaat?

So now I can be subjective?

So. You are not able to explain why/which dictionary is the 'More objective', then?

I'm not disagreeing. I'm seeking clarification.

You make assertions then, when pressed, simply shrug and walk away from said comments.

Only to circle back to them in other threads.

You are asserting there's a diety.

Fine. Please give folks some clue as to what you are talking/posting about.

Just pointing to some subjective dictionary that you choose to referance... because reasons.... isn't really helpful.

Not at work.
