All I've got to say about that misfortune is that there were no convicts in MY family.
It's okay, I'll forgive the insult to my home town. Adelaide is one of my favourite towns...
...to pass through on my way to somewhere interesting.
No convicts in your family? Are you sure?
All those generations passed without encountering a catholic priest?
I actually love Sydney.
Was posted to Ingleburn for a while ,and later to Holsworthy, before going to Malaysia.
Spent an especially great week end with a couple of mates in small cabin cruiser, going around the harbour.Had no idea about all little coves. I remember sailing by the still-under-construction Opera House. My dad's brother was an engineer on that project. Explained to me how hard it was to build.
On the Saturday night we went into The Cross .Man, the joint was jumpin' !!!--It was the height of the Vietnam war, and the place was was arse deep in very loud, very drunk Americans on R&R. I often wondered how many of them got through the war alive.
Sadly, I haven't been back to Sydney since. I guess it may have changed a bit.
