Biden isn't going down

Oh and a lot of Bernie supporters on the Bernie Reddit are delusional as fuck. People aren't going to eventually magically gravitate to Bernie in large numbers, since he already has high name recognition and is doing relatively poorly in the polls inspire of that. People who are still shopping around looking for the right candidate don't want Bernie.

Biden winning the nomination is probably Dumbfucks best chance of legitimately winning in 2020. Noting will supress the democrat vote better than a continuity "good ole' southern boy" corporatist "democrat".

I feel ominous undertones of Hilary there. It's a sad state of affairs when the US is presented with a Democrat candidate with a resume that only has to say, "But at least (s)he's not Trump!" My wife didn't like Hilary, neither did I. But Trump!?  Rolleyes

I have been hoping that we would have an election that doesn't involve 'anyone but him/her' but I don't have a good feeling about it.  I will not be surprised if Trump is reelected. The DNC should have been getting someone prepped for this for a while now.

My own estimation is that Biden and Sanders will fade, and that the nomination will go to either Harris or Warren, with Harris attracting Biden supporters and Warren attracting Sanders supporters. Once the percentages aren't so split between candidates, I expect Harris and Warren will poll better than Biden and Sanders.

Any likely Democratic nominee would be acceptable compared with Trump. Biden might sway the moderates, but either Harris or Warren would appeal more to the Democratic base and improve voter turnout.

I think even a progressive will put more states into play next time, considering Trump's many mistakes and the shear pain of having him in office for four years.

Harris’ performance after Gabbard needled her was trumpian in its thin skinned ill grace and magnitude of conceit.  That caused me to believe she is the one potential democratic candidate whose personality would largely negate advantage the democrats would otherwise almost inescapably accrue from trump’s obvious monumentally total lack of any redeeming character and personality traits.

On the other hand, people might see her as someone who can effectively go after Trump's many outstanding weaknesses.

But you might be right.

Meh. I like Biden. Could do worse for a nominee. Still usually prefer people who aren't party affiliated, but I'm over it.

I think most Americans, particularly "centrists" don't vote so much on political policies. They vote for the person. And to this date, very few dems want to acknowledge that Hillary Clinton was a terrible candidate. She offended large numbers of people ("basket of deplorables") in a way that reinforced stereotypes of Democrats as out of touch and having a superiority complex over the unwashed masses she wished to rule. She couldn't be bothered to show up in Wisconsin where she needed to win, and instead focused her time on running up her vote in Texas. She was bad with message and bad with tactics. She was just a bad candidate. That is why she lost.

Biden has over Hillary that he is more than just "likeable enough" as Obama "praised" Hillary for being. Biden can go from weak to good at his messaging. As long as he doesn't pull too many of his infamous gaffes, Biden could get the support he needs

Whether the nominee is liberal or progressive, Democrats will lose the general election if both sides don't support the selected candidate, AND the candidate they select has to be able to flip Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin (all three) to beat Trump in the electoral college. Almost any of the candidates on display have a shot at winning the popular vote, but only a candidate who can flip those states that voted for Obama and then Trump back can win the presidency.

Y’all are delusional if you think that even the pop vote is in the bag after the last few years.

Voter rolls have been aggressively purged. The voting rights act has been gutted. Polling places have been surgically shuttered. It’s become an obvious liability to wait in line while brown.

The current occupant has a much better shot than he did last time. Good luck.
