Have you ever considered that advancements in science have decreased our need to use "god" as an explanation for observed phenomena in the universe?
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

Science has eliminated smallpox and is close to doing the same with other diseases, something god has failed to do, I know which one I believe in.
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

And exactly what is this salvation? Eternal life? That your "soul" goes join to god or sumethin?

Because it isn't supposed to.  It's like saying, 'Joe is a wonderful electrician, but he hasn't weeded my garden.'

Now what do you think is the reason for this?

I know what I think the reason is, can you guess it?

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

As far as I can see religion is putting people more and more away from God. With passing time there are more and more religions with conflicting impressions of God and how to serve him. People that claim to speak with Jesus never get the one message of which Christian denomination is right (if any).

So it seems that science is bringing us closer to God by giving unanimous evidence that there is none.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

That’s because science’s purpose is not be try to coddle the likes of you.

Science hasn’t got us any nearer to the Loch Ness monster either.

You know why?  Because science has figured out it almost certainly doesn’t exist.   Science hasn’t gotten us nearer to your god or salvation because it has figured out there most likely isn’t any god, and salvation is nonsense.

Correct me if mistaken, but I didn't see you try to elaborate on your own personal experience(s) with God/Jesus.

I don't really care about scientific evidence here, or even evidence in general. You're never going to be able to provide me that via your own subjective experience, but I would've loved to see you describe in details what convinces you you're in touch with a grand higher power entity that is beyond your imagination.

You keep wanting me to come out with some bizarre, exciting experience I've had with God. Really, it has just come from a continuing study of many faiths and much debate and discussion with people like yourself, then realizing that the only way I would know God is to allow him to reveal himself to me. I figured that if God was real, and I sincerely sought him, then he would reveal himself to me. One night as I was agonizing over the guilt about leaving christianity and the inability to abandon the beliefs I had come to, I was suddenly filled with a feeling of peace and joy and heard the words: "Everything is going to be okay."

Since then, I've just focused on God to keep me on the path to him, whichever direction that takes me. I pray daily for him to continue to reveal himself to me and I love to study various religions and beliefs. I have seen that we can't quantify God and all true religions are built on traditions and myths that have developed over time as they sought to understand the understandable. But God's relationship is obtained in the same way by all. That is by going to him in whatever way we do and allowing him to come to us in his way. The important thing is that we are seeking him.

I never would recommend someone leaving their faith. This is what I believe and this is the path I've taken. Of course, I could be wrong, and the worst thing I could do is cause someone else to draw away from God. Don't rely on human opinions for the ultimate answer. We all need to keep our focus on God for guidance as we live our lives.

That's true in a limited sense only.  Science hasn't gotten nearer to God because the existence of God isn't a scientific question.  Properly speaking, science has no business coming down on either side of the God question (although individual scientists are perfectly free to do so).
