It’s not the Republican Party.  That’s just a figure head.  It’s the fact that large section of the country no longer truly believe material facts trump opinion or private individuals really have a fiduciary duty towards humanity outside of immediate associations.   In other words the populous no longer have the character such that a democracy in which they are a sizeable proportion can remain a virtuous influence upon the world and humanity.

The Make belief foundation of democracy is people is usually if not always the solution.  But people is actually the problem.
