A lot of Blind Willie Mctell songs are some of the best blues songs ever written, like Searching the Desert for the Blues, I think it's called. He was blind, so he relied basically on his ears for playing.
Robert Johnson as well. Both are towering giants in the blues genre.
Johnson apparently died when he sold his soul to the devil as well...true story you know Wink
