It's sort of the opposite of stalking.

So, it's being deliberately ignored or shunned?

RE: Have you ever been ghosted?
I had a friend at work and he and I and another feller talked about music all the time.
We organised to go see a band in Brisbane and he never showed up.
The other feller and I both sent messages and rang but no answer.
Then he didn't show up to work, stopped talking to anyone that knew him at work, got a new job, moved house but still lives in the same town.
He just doesn't talk to anyone that used to know him and no-one knows why.
If I ever see him I'll fucking corner him and make him tell me what the fuck's going on. :-)
It's a real mystery.

I now leave out the question "why" - because that is the special thing with ghosting that you are NEVER told the reason for it!

Yes, and the why is simple if you know the person well enough. Especially, after years of gaming together. The simple fact is that he had major trust issues.

I would say it's less deliberately ignored/shunned and more not even giving enough of a rats ass to answer someone. Deliberately shunning someone requires energy to avoid them. I'm fairly certain that ghosting involves the attitude and absolutely as much energy as letting your spam inbox fill up and deleting them once a month without even opening the spam folder.

I've never ghosted anyone, that I can remember. I can't recall being ghosted, if I have been, it wasn't memorable.

I have been ghosted once in real life.
From one day to the next. Abruptly.
With no explanation given. It was just terrible.

Half a year later I got some kind of explanation.
But I still think that it was quite an absurd explanation.

Did that sound like   being stalked? Huh Angel Doh

No, it sounded like some folks don't read the whole thread before posting. I'm frequently guilty of that. Doh
