[Quranic Reflection]: Surprise surprise..children are purchased to this day

You read that right: yes...adopting a child cost money -money on the head of the newborn-.
In the U.S, this is the case:
https://www.adoptuskids.org/adoption-and...es-it-cost
Quote:Other types of adoption usually do cost money. According to Child Welfare Information Gateway, working with a private agency to adopt a healthy newborn or baby or to adopt from another country can cost $5,000 to $40,000. Some agencies have a sliding scale based on the prospective adoptive parent’s income.
Often, some people accuse the Quran for advocating slavery when it mentions the story of Joseph -peace be upon him-, who got sold to a family that wants to adopt him:
Quote:Sura 12, The Quran:
https://quran.ksu.edu.sa/index.php?l=en#...rans=en_sh
( 21 ) And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, "Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son." And thus, We established Joseph in the land that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah is predominant over His affair, but most of the people do not know.
But if this is the case from ancient times, then what differed today in the so called "free world" ? buying children using dollars doesn't change the case that this practice is not slavery even by the standards of anti-Islam people.
Children are sold to this day, and good people adopt them for a price. So what's the fuss about the Quran and slavery? note that taking slaves is not even mentioned in the book.

It's not slavery because the child isn't the property of adopter
Quote:But if this is the case from ancient times, then what differed today in the so called "free world" ? buying children using dollars doesn't change the case that this practice is not slavery even by the standards of anti-Islam people.
Again paying to adopt a child isn't slavery because he child isn't the person's property
Quote:Children are sold to this day, and good people adopt them for a price. So what's the fuss about the Quran and slavery? note that taking slaves is not even mentioned in the book.
Because paying for an adoption isn't slavery because he child isn't the person's property
And i guess the Islamic world missed that memo
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of...slim_world
And as Forbes points out
Quote:When you pay for an adoption, you are not paying for a human being. You are paying for services that facilitate bringing the child into your home. There are attorney’s fees, home studies (reports by social workers about the adoptive families), agency fees, and background checks. Adoptive families are expected to pay for expenses incurred by the birthparents, who can reserve the right to change their minds. There will be people who try to get you to hire them for “marketing” and as “adoption counselors.” Check out anyone who wants to help in this way with your social worker or adoption agency first. (In the depths of waiting misery, I paid someone $4,000 to connect me with birth parents around the country. She didn’t, my adoption happened a couple weeks later through the original adoption agency, and her business—and my money—disappeared.)

There's a "slight" difference.....
A slave is someone you bring into your home to abuse at your will. To do scut work. To be degraded. To be beaten and fucked whenever you like. All with no risk of reprisal.
An adopted child is someone you bring into your home to love, to teach. To defend with your life and ultimately when you die, bequeath all you own.
See the difference - you despicable sack of fetid goatshit?

But the man in the verse said explicitly:
Quote:( 21 ) And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, "Make his residence comfortable. Perhaps he will benefit us, or we will adopt him as a son."
Which makes the Quran in one valley, and you are on a very distant one.
Are you sure you read the op?

While it is true that the Quran does have a fairly mild view of slaves and slavery (considering the period), I think it is a mistake to equate modern adoption practices with slavery.
If children were truly bought and sold after the manner of slaves, it would simply be a matter of plunking down your money and saying, 'I'll take the third one on the left.' The child could be maltreated with impunity, would have severely curtailed (if any) rights under law, and would remain in this state for life, barring some sort of manumission. Slaves are property, by definition. Children are not, and adoption doesn't alter that.
The fact that there are fees associated with adoption doesn't qualify it as slavery. Once again, you're being silly, silly, silly.

Seriously! You don't know the difference between slavery and adoption? You have to ask atheists to explain that to you? One of your lowest moments Atlas!
