I think Turkey is ground zero for all Turks around the world.
Most of my family are Turks from outside of Turkey's current borders. We spoke a different "dialect" of Turkish, had different customs, cuisines and etc...
However, we were able to find a refuge here, and really feel like we're a part of it.
Not that we would have had it better in the place we had originated, the Turkish government had treated us very generously.
