The white privilege to terrorize
RE: The white privilege to terrorize
Most of these guys with guns aren't the McVeigh types, they are your typical big truck driving dickheads with a yankee swatiska waving high and proud, if anything I'd call them nationalists.

McVeigh as far as I knew was an atheist, the man seemed like he was waking up to the government bullshit and went off the deep end after waco and couldn't accept that government is shit and we all have no choice but to avoid any contact with these authoritarians, if we can.

And Trumps supporters are mostly 60+ glued to Fox News all day. You can bet the Evangelicals will be out in full force to vote for this clown again as they think he's a man that supports their favorite Jewish Zombie in the sky.

They had a state meeting of the Michigan Militia at a gun club near Ann Arbor in 93 or 94. I forget the date. All the counties that had people sent representatives. A group of 5 of us from our county attended. (As I recall we had one of the larger groups. About half of the counties went unrepresented. The movement was nowhere as big as the.media reported - "in the millions" - it was more like a few thousand.)

McVeigh attended - and was rather loud. The usual anti government rants - just a lot more foaming at the mouth attitude. He was one of the BDU wearers - and made comment about our group and a few others who were not wearing uniforms..... That about all I remember of him. I just remember him because he had the name on his uniform - as I knew another guy by the same surname when I was in the service.

He wasn't the last foamer I met. It's why I gave up on the idea.

I still like the idea of the Militia as the Constitution outlines. That was what the more sane members had in common IMO. But that model is governed by and led by appointed leaders by the State. It's not a bunch of loose cannons running around the woods in BDUs, chanting slogans, voting for leaders and appointing themselves battlefield comissions.

Imagine these guys were Arabs ? What do you think he response would be ?

When I was an angry young Republican, the Holy Second Amendment was pretty important to me.  It's become less so as I've grown older and more liberal, though I've still been at least nominally in favor of gun rights for my whole adult life.

But this shit has me reconsidering things.  I'll neither support nor give aide and comfort to cousin-fucking militias intimidating people at a state capital.  These are the same cunts who will be open-carrying at the polls if they can get away with it.

I hope you don't believe this part of what you wrote because if you do you don't understand the makeup of Trump's base at all. Polls move around, but about a third of 18-34 year olds fall firmly in the Trump camp. It's 40% plus for 35 to 64 year olds and closer to 50% for 65 plus. So while older people may be more likely to support Trump than younger people, in raw numbers he has more supporters in the 18 to 59 group than he does in the 60 and up group.

Maybe we can get @Gawdzilla Sama to chime in here on Wendell Fertig. If you aren't familiar with him he was an American army reserve colonel in the Philippines when the Japanese invaded. He refused to surrender, made his way to the island of Mindanao, then organized and led a resistance to the Japanese occupation.

Fertig spent a lot of time in the Philippines prior to the war and understood the people. He knew the local warlords that were going to be his best resource would never follow a colonel so he promoted himself to general. It worked, but it also pissed MacArthur and his staff off to no end. Not only did some lowly reserve colonel have the gall to promote himself to general, but he was able to run a successful resistance to the Japanese. Something which they had insisted was not possible without MacArthur himself there to lead it. So much so that they just about refused to provide him with much in the way of material support because they felt a successful guerilla operation by Fertig would make them look bad.

After the war Fertig would be instrumental in shaping the army's psychological operations strategy, and is considered to be one of the father's of our special forces.

Yup. An interesting story for sure - but he DID have a commission to start with.

Most of the bozos I met from the "Michigan Milita" that wanted to claim a rank - had never served.

Guys like myself - who had served - felt rather uncomfortable with some overweight mental midget calling himself "Major".

Our county - at least while I was involved -(almost 30 years ago) did not wear uniforms or claim rank. Dunno about now.

According to this Wikipedia Article Timothy McVeigh was a Roman Catholic. That does not constitute being an atheist.

That’s just the thing. In their own eyes, they are a lawfully constituted militia (actual laws to the contrary), so they can award themselves whatever ranks they please.

Wouldn’t surprise me to learn that there’s a Grand Field Marshall Jimbo Stumphumper in one or another of these groups.

This is nothing short of human fear of changing demographics. And what's worse, is that our western allies don't have a 2nd Amendment and at the same time also don't have anywhere near the firearm violence we do here.

And these twats that want to open carry scream that guns should be allowed everywhere, but they cherry pick. Firearms are not allowed in airports. Firearms are not allowed in Capital Hill in Washington. Firerms are not allowed in the White House. Firearms are not allowed in nursing homes. Firearms in my local county government complex are not allowed in the courthouse.

And I don't give a fuck if it is "legal" in Michigan to open carry, even if you are not yelling at someone or pointing your firearm at someone, the only fucking reason a dickhead wants to go into a polling place with a firearm is to intimidate people.
