Are you sure you want to do that?

Are you sure you want to do that?
Blind hate is one hell of a blinder.

....

Do you really think impeaching Trump at this point is a really good idea?

Really?

You thought this through?

Really?

.....
Ooo
I don't think you have. Why? Hint: H Ross Perot.

Get it?

No?

.....

Let me draw you a picture.  The D's are going to go for an impeachment vote in the House. It will pass. It then goes to the Senate. And guess what? IT WILL PASS. The R's will get on board and sing Kumbya with their D bretheren - throwing Donny under the bus making him the first ever President to be removed from office -

Making him inelligible to ever run from office again.....

....and at the same time distancing themselves from Donnies insanity.

Again - H. Ross Perot...... See yet? No?

.....

If Trump were to simply get out of office - it is LIKELY he would try to run again. The R's may or may not take him (my guess is no). He may run as an independant.... Either way - he would trash the R hopes in the next election. He would not get enough votes as an R, and he would like H Ross, suck up enough otherwise R voters to prevent the R's from winning.

BUT.  If he can't run (because he got impeached) the R's can find a strong R candidate who would have a good chance at winning.

So - is it really worth it?

And yet more crappy takes

1. It doesn't matter if we actually manage to impeach him. It should still be pursued.

2. It has nothing to do with hate. It has to do with justice

So it's you who isn't thinking  Dodgy

If he is impeached again he won't get a bunch more of our tax money.

And he won't be able to run again.

Bye Felicia.

Impeaching Trump won’t prevent him from running again.  Impeaching and removing him might prevent him from running again, but it’s not a guarantee (the Republicans could convict him and not follow through on the disqualification).

It’s all but certain that Trump is going to be impeached and just as certain that he’s not going to be convicted. In practical terms of his running again, there’s no difference between impeached and not impeached.

The party leadership is already split, the rank and file will follow, probably sooner rather than later.

You missed my point.

If the Ds want to win the next election - you WANT Donnie to run again

I agree he will be impeached.

I disagree - I think enough senior R's are smart enough to look ahead 4 years - and will find throwing Donny under a bus as a fine option...

I don’t think you can gather 17 Republican senators to vote for a conviction (that’s about a third of them), especially since the trial can’t possibly be scheduled until after Trump leaves office anyway. But we’ll see.

But being impeached by the House, even for a second time, is not enough to prevent Trump from seeking the White House or any other federal office in the future. That power rests in the U.S. Senate.

Article I of the Constitution authorizes the Senate to impose two punishments for a public official found guilty of articles of impeachment: removal from office and a ban on future officeholding.

According to the Senate's website, "The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office. In some cases, the Senate has also disqualified such officials from holding public offices in the future."

The second penalty—banning a public figure from running for office again—requires only a simple majority of 51 senators rather than the two-thirds majority needed for removal, according to The New York Times.

I think you are going to see that Trump is not loved by the party...

The guy practically raped it to become the R candidate...

They remember that...

Letting him slide on this opens the door for others.

He needs to have his nuts handed to him in a public forum...preferably by Pelosi and Hillary.

I am not saying he isn't a heinous asshole. Clearly he is. Clearly he is unfit and never should have been allowed the job.
The question is - at what price? Is throwing him out of office a week early worth the possible (my guess is - likely) high cost?
