I guess the bizarre thing was that in the end, all the characters moved on (to college) except Screech who still stayed in high school for some reason, making him even creepier, and now when these desperate actors gathered back to continue the show, they ditched Screech - I guess for some snobbish reason that he was not good enough for the show's high standards.

Okay, so, as a fan of the show, here's my response:
  • Screech actually did go to college with the rest of the gang (except Lisa, who went to FIT, Jessie, who I'm fairly certain ended up going to Stanford, and Tori, who presumably ended up going wherever Chuck Cunningham went when the showrunners decided her existence didn't matter anymore.)
  • While The New Class wasn't part of the syndication package I watched every morning before high school, it looks like there's a legit reason he ended up coming back to Bayside: he was in a work-study program and became Belding's assistant.
  • Even before he got into legal trouble, he had pretty much burned his bridges with the rest of the show, particularly after he published a book (which, by all accounts, is pretty questionable in its veracity, and even Diamond would eventually claim most of it was fabricated), however, by most accounts, his relationship with the cast was only a few steps removed from this:

So, it's no wonder he decided not to do Bayside.

Just adding to Deesse23's post; Captain Tom helped raise over 30 million pounds for NHS Charities Together, starting when he was 99. His original goal was to raise a thousand pounds by his 100th birthday. He performed (spoken word) on a cover of You'll Never Walk Alone that topped the UK charts when he was 100. Covid got him.

Haya Harareet - actress from "Ben-Hur". I guess she was the last one alive.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
