So evidence or counter data.Just predictable and impotent insults. Because that's all you have.

Quote:Ok... This is like " how do we know what Jesus and the Devil said on the mountaintop?".
No Dodgy

Quote:How do you know the rarity of guns being used for self defense  if the media rarely reports it?
You seem to think the media is the only source for such reporting.

Quote:MOST times a gun is used for self-defense - no one is shot. Those don't get into your statistics.
Citation needed. Not to mention irrelevant.

Quote:But you will keep counting suicides.... Wouldn' t want to let people make decisions for themselves huh
Whether by suicide or by murder being shot is being shot.

We know you hate actual data and would prefer fish tales. But I'm afraid that simply won't cut it.

Because we have data that demonstrates as much. Are you under the impression that data doesn’t exist, or is inaccessible outside of the news medium? For someone who constantly accuses others of being too reliant on the news for their information, you are doing exactly that, right now, with regard to firearm stats. “If I don’t hear about it on the news how could I ever possibly know any facts about it?” You’re making yourself look foolish.

Do you have data that counters the data on firearms? I’d love to see it.

Consider his source for his opinion seems to be a pop gun magazine ...... I wouldn't have too much confidence he has counter data.

He is happy with our volume of firearm deaths. Lets just accept it.

Well, gun owners have the most compelling interest in seeing out some future where we have sane and thorough policies regarding gun law and it’s enforcement.

Fantasizing about good guys shooting bad guys is a losers bet. Hoping that criminals lose gun fights is not a gun policy. This silly shit is the basis of a case to criminalize possession, if this is the state of gun owning America. If people have guns with a mind to kill another person - that’s a problem.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I just find it hilariously ironic that the guy who is constantly accusing other people of being so lazy and thoughtless as to rely on the news for their edification on topics is now crying: “how could we possibly know any facts about firearms if it’s not reported by the news?!

^^^^^^^ BINGO.....

Most Americans, including most firearm owners agree that we are not on the right track.

My approach is simple. Stop assuming when someone buys a firearm with no record at time of buy, that they are incapable of hurting themselves or others at time of purchase. That is not Orwellian thought or presumption of guilt anymore than giving a drivers test to someone looking for a drivers license.

There are far more criteria for those who apply to become part of the police force and military before we ok someone in those positions. Our civilian requirements to own firearms are a joke by comparison.

True story. I failed out of Air Force basic training. I was too young and had been bullied growing up by the time I went in. I handled the physical training fine, but the mentally being yelled at from 5 am to 10pm every day wore on me. But even outside my personal experience, we had a few days of target practice on a gun range. All of us were warned that they we were being monitored by sentries and if anyone aimed their firearm outside the targets, we'd risk getting shot.

If anyone reading this would rightfully agree I should not be allowed to own a firearm, you are still stuck with our general laws nationwide. You can't have it both ways. You cant say on the one hand, "I agree, there are certain people who should not have them" then shout "no rules ever".

I am lucky enough to be self introspective to know I should not own a firearm. Not because I would hurt others, but moreso that I would have a bad day and commit suicide.

If anyone remembers "Full Metal Jacket"  I identified with the guy who ends up shooting his Drill Sergeant, because he reminded me of all the bullies I grew up with. But in reality, it doesn't matter how misplaced his rage was, it was still wrong. If I had murdered my bullies as a kid and teen, I would have been wrong myself.

Guns don't solve human problems. Violence does not solve human problems. Both ultimately end up being an expression of frustration, not cooperation. One can understand putting Hitler down. One can understand capturing Ted Bundy. But more guns isn't the solution. It never has been, and never will be.

They aren’t, we just don’t enforce them. That’s the joke. It’s all of a piece, ofc, since we don’t enforce them because we’ve systematically defanged and defunded enforcement. Broke the system so that we could then argue that it must be done away with on account of how it doesn’t work. Buncha firefighting arsonists.

Meanwhile, I just wish the nuts would keep their filthy mitts out of my right to own a gun. They’re fucking it up for everyone.

She means actual data, not anecdotes. Those are totally worthless. Sorry, she has ACTUAL standards.

And what does he fall back on stories in a pop magazine No statistics, No studies, No academic sources, And resorting to the Cenk Uygur tactic of "LOOK IT UP" because she's too lazy to defend his own position.
