Yes, number 4 can be removed because Nudger and I finally understand each other now. And sects do exists here because the commonality that you all share is the word “Atheism”.

But for me, the question, does a god exist, IS related to unicorns and bigfoot, because they are all fall under the scope of episiotomy.

My reasons for disbelieving in gods, the afterlife, souls, is not different than my reasons for disbelieving in unicorns, bigfoot, and an almost endless of toehr unsupported supernatural claims.

It's not our fault that you are trying to saddle us with being part of a religion with sects, or whatever other religious trappings you want, and then wonder why we complain about your lack of understanding and your fallacious reasoning.

Here it is again. I do not believe that gods, the afterlife, a soul exist, because they are unsupported by good standards of evidence, and valid and sound logic.

These are the same reasons why I disbelieve in unicorns and bigfoot.

I am speaking about the topics and our positions, you are trying to force your understanding of dictionary definitions on us, then calling us members of different sects, if we don't exactly fit your understanding of the dictionary.

You do know, that the people that made up the word atheist, the ancient Romans, made it up to define Christians because they didn't believe in the right gods, right?

Thank you for answering my questions by the way.
I just want to point out again the definition of atheism which is “lack of belief in gods”. Are unicorns worshipped by anyone? Officially? If yes include them so you can be happy with this pre-programmed answer from you atheists and your fallacious reasoning. Smile
Also I am aware of the origins of the word atheist but if we go down that route and trace things to Koine Greek a lot of our normal discussions would fall apart.

Yes but if you wanna call yourself ‘more religious’ and claim to be a true atheist in the strict dictionary sense …. Then you’re not being true to what you really are.

Low-effort troll is obvious, lol
And here we go. Smile The troll card has been thrown when you’re not willing to respond in a logical manner.

This topic in not going to demonstrate the existence of gods or souls, it’s about clarifying what you’re allowed to say or not based on your position.

And for the third time now, unless you can provide, at the very least, a logically valid and sound argument for why the existence of one is necessary for the existence of the other, then you’re just making shit up. 🙃

Can you?

I’ve said this a few times. The answers to souls and the afterlife are linked to religions or gods. Whether they’re real or not is not the point, the point is that we Theists are allowed to have an answer and this doesn’t contradict our definition where the Key word is “belief’ and your definition is “lack of belief”.

You said you were here to school us on logic. Do you even know what a formal logical argument is? Present us your syllogism. What are you premises? The conclusion? Go ahead. I’ll wait.  Popcorn

But my reasons for believing or disbelieving claims, has nothing to do with whether it is worshipped or not.

Because, even if someone were able to demonstrate that a god does exist, I would no longer be an atheist, but that does not mean I will worship said god.

I put gods into the category of unsupported supernatural claims, not in the category of things that are worshipped.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

So you’re saying you don’t like that description to your question in English? Should I try in Italian? Greek? 😄

Look this is very simple. If you claim to be an atheist, stay true to the definition of the word Not your reasons.

@GaryAnderson you said you were here to school us on logic.

So, present your premises and your conclusion. I mean, that was your stated goal, lol. Are you going to follow through with it or…?

Yes I’m going to pick on you guys on what I think are obvious things which some of you deny but as far as schooling …. I’m not that presumptuous despite being on a horse. Smile

It wasn't us atheists that came up with the term, it was ancient Romans.

In fact, Rome used the term 'atheist' to describe Christians, because they did not believe in the correct gods.

But you are correct, for a change, the term 'atheist' does not really need to exist. After all, there is no special term for the disbelief in Bigfoot.

I thought it was the ancient Greeks who came up with the word "atheos" meaning "without".
