[split] Ethics - parental responsibility re: children
RE: [split] Ethics - parental responsibility re: children
That’s one of the best parts about life. It’s a smorgasbord. No one asks us if we want to be born, but, otoh, none of us does anything to deserve all this wondrous possibility that so many people would and do kill and die for.

It’s a gift horse.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yes, it is. Good metaphor.

Why edge? Why not just ejaculate and get on with the rest of your life?

I love the quote by Winston Churchill, "If you're going through hell, keep going."

Shit Rev, that might be missing the larger question. Why not smoke as much as you want…drink as much as you want…do what you want - aaaaand get any orgasms in with a good friend?

All I know, is that if there was even a very small chance that my future son or daughter would hate his or her life as much as I hate mine......that's reason enough not to have children.

And yet suffering still exists. So obviously, that religion is not a good solution.

Uh dude the whole point of Buddhism is that you eventually come to the conclusion that suffering is something you do to yourself.

Like you are right now.

At best , that leads to a comment about how it might be unethical to have a kid if that kid ends up like you, Ahri.

I can’t say I disagree.

A child/person with my intelligence, and my (now defunct) giving nature, wouldn't be such a bad thing. Of course, if he or she hated his or her life, it wouldn't matter what traits he or she had.

Well, that would be deleterious to your many previous statements. If shit can be so worthless and garbage as to lead to a person like, you, and that's still not bad enough. I'll call this one doa.

You may be a degenerate piece of shit with no possible meamns of improvement - but that's just you....and that's alright...anyway. Doesn't, and cant, speak to anyone else who has kids who aren't you, and doesn't even speak as an ethical statement to people who have kids who are you. I guess the best any of us can do is hope that our kids don't...somehow, against all odds, come out like you.
