Groundbreaking study reveals the obvious – that trans kids are who they say they are

The research looked at the statistics of 317 early childhood social transitioners – 208 trans girls and 109 trans boys – and examined the rate at which these adolescents would “retransition” either to their gender assigned at birth or to a non-binary identity.

It found that over an average of five years after the beginning of their social transition, around 7.1 per cent had “retransitioned” at least once. Almost half of that figure – 3.5 per cent – began identifying as non-binary, rather than with a binary gender identity.

The percentage included a small group – around 1.3 per cent – of youths who had retransitioned to another identity before returning back to their original binary trans identity.  Another 2.5 per cent of those who retransitioned went back to identifying as cisgender.

By the end of that period, around 94 per cent identified with a binary trans identity.

My daughter lives in Chicago. Several years ago I went to visit her at her school (Northwestern University), and while walking on campus, one woman college student among a group of five performed a sarcastic wolf whistle towards me while me, my wife and daughter were walking by them on the NU campus. I was soooo amused!

After that we went to get pizza in downtown Evanston and the guy serving me at the counter treated me like everyone else!! His expression towards me was completely professional, even a bit stoic. And, the pizza was fantastic!! I was so delighted and remember thinking about how great it would be to live there.

Trans woman raped 14 times in men’s prison finally released after suing state twice

Ashley Diamond was released from a Georgia, US prison on 1 August and will serve the remainder of her 12-year sentence on parole.

Diamond was sentenced on burglary charges in 2012 after attempting to pawn a saw stolen by her then-boyfriend, according to the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) which represented her along with the Southern Poverty Law Center.

She has sued Georgia twice over the abusive conditions she faced while in prison – in 2015, which resulted in the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) being rebuked by a federal court and the US Department of Justice for its treatment of trans people.

In December 2020, Diamond filed a lawsuit against the Department of Corrections for a second time, after alleging it failed to protect her from sexual assault and did not provide her with adequate healthcare while she was in prison.

The 44-year-old said she is “elated to be released” but “still damaged” by her time in prison and “worried” about the people she left behind.

I have a lot of family in the Chicago suburbs and my employer is based in Chicago. If things in Oklahoma get too bad for me and I have to go somewhere else, that’s probably where I would try to go

We did work from home when covid was really bad. Maybe I could talk to them about going back to working from home but I would still have to stay within the state of Oklahoma. That would depend on how bad things got. Making trans healthcare illegal isn’t too much of a stretch. Neither is outlawing the use of public restrooms. Making it a crime just to be transgender might be a stretch, republicans are doing lots of things now that would have been a stretch a decade ago.

Being postop and financially stable offers me some protection. So does having an accepting employer and family. Still, there’s no way I can be certain I’m safe in a state run by religious fundamentalists
