Supernatural and Atheism

No. As so often happens, you’re confusing sex with gender.

According to your definition there is no difference between the female and male genders because they can be anything to anybody. You can be the same full person and be either gender you want. You and I can have exactly the same characteristics , but be different genders. You've killed the whole concept of gender.

Brains can be gendered; no scientist doubts this.

Right, so can you change your brain?

What you’re missing is that ‘male’ and ‘female’ are sexes, not genders. Your sex is primarily biological, your gender is primarily cultural/social/psychological.

One last comment on this subject. If I can be who I am and identify as whatever gender I feel I am, it reduces gender totally to an opinion. It destroys any solid concept of gender. I've tried and tried to get someone to give a solid definition of gender and all I got was "whatever you think it is". My opinion is to be who you are and be proud of that, but don't try to change the meaning of gender in the process. We can end up with all kinds of destructive consequences such as that giant college swimmer we see posing next to those female swimmers. I feel sorry for those women.

I just thought of this way of asking the question. Are there any defining differences between the male and female genders? Please name some.

Right, so can you change your brain?

Yes, say, by memorizing a poem; these changes can be detected through a fMRI.

I have long hair down to the middle of my back. I trim my eyebrows, shave my arms & legs, wear makeup & some discrete eyeshadow, wear (on occasion) modest skirts & dresses, and love sandals. I prefer cats to dogs.

Yeah but that doesn't change the physical structure of the brain.

Yeah but that doesn't change the physical structure of the brain.

Why do you feel that gender is determined uniquely by physical structure? Do you have a source for this claim?
