He is NO improvement over the chump, and likely would be worse, given that he actually knows how the gov works, to some extent. AARP membership isn't any kind of distinction, beyond being old. There’s actually a fair chance of not renominating Biden. Boru

Democrats need to think carefully about 2024, though; no chance of not nominating Joe Biden, but, if things start to go downhill, we'll need a Plan B, even if Trump drops dead. He's our best bet against having yet another psychopath in the White House. I would have preferred Bernie but supported Biden because I knew that the former would have gotten crushed by whatever Republican was running. Consider this to have been a bit of a self-help thread. The Electoral College is a relic of the past and has no place in modern America; it's just a way for a small minority to terrorize the majority via the Executive & Judicial branches, and it needs to go. States like Georgia should not be the deciding factor in who the next US President is going to be. The US is still a ways away from a democratic form of government.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Y'know what, maybe Trump winning in 2024 wouldn't be too bad. Could turn good.
He won the election in 2016 (even if he lost the popular vote). After that, republicans vastly underperformed in 2018, 2020 and 2022 elections. Now if he wins in 2024 and kills the GOP in 2026, 2028 and 2030, maybe we can get enough left wing, progressives in congress to actually make some positive changes. Personally, I'm hoping that his presence within the republican party is enough to nuke them in 2024 and the general trend of millennials and gen z being much more progressive kills future plans of the republican party.

I am hoping that he will run as a 3rd party candidate; that will sink them for sure. They know this, of course, which is why DeSantis will likely become his VP, all the while hoping that he drops dead just after inauguration; everyone will breathe a quite sigh of relief while they do their best to act sad.

I think he would and it would certainly kill their presidential hopes, but unless he gets people to join his party downticket, it won't change that much. That being said, if he can get people to join the Trump party in congressional races, people like MGT or Boebert or Hershel Walker Dr Oz, yeah, I can easily see that killing the republicans in congress, too. If he runs and wins the republican nomination (which is still very likely), I think that hurts republicans in congressional races, too. Every congressional race will be a reflection of Trump and the democrat will be running as though Trumps victory is a given and they're protecting democracy from him. And that messaging will probably win a few close races for democrats. The best option for the GOP right now is for Trump to quietly drop out of the race, but Trump lacks the humility to do that. The republicans need to stand up to the monster they created and do something about it or Trump will destroy their party and, possibly, take the rest of the country down with him.
