I think die-hard Trumpeteers would vote for him even as an [Ind], and split the right-wing vote, much the same dynamic as Nader/Gore in 2000 [D] or Perot/Bush [R] in 1992. It's not about what Trump would do, but rather about what right-wing voters would do.

I remember the fiasco in Florida in the Year 2000, as my wife and I were glued to the television. If all the Greens had voted for Gore, imagine what our World would be like?? Maybe this deserves its own thread?

Right. Because of that dynamic, Trump running [I] would likely give the Democrat candidate, whoever that is, a good edge.
I personally don't think Trump will get the Republican nod. He's given too many hostages to fortune, and especially after this recent midterm, has made the GOP wonder how long -- or rather short -- his coattails are. If I were Republican I'd shitcan him ASAP, as politely as possible so as to not alienate his rabid fanbase who skew Republican as well. I'd want turnout, but without Der Donald at the top of the ticket.

The Republican choice is simple: Hope that DT dies, or give him the nomination (and then hope that he dies) and if he wins the Election, really hope (and, perhaps, even pray) that he dies, otherwise, he and his cronies will split the election in three ways, giving JB a second term.
From the Republican perspective, whom do you hate more??

Given all this chump/De Santis/Biden talk, who are people actually rooting for, here? I'm currently in the Biden camp, just because (again) he's less worse than the chump (or, potentially, De Santis).
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

He is, indeed, their tar-baby. One more reminder that when you buy a boat, you get the leaks too.

I'm in the don't fuck with my democracy camp. I guess that means I'll never vote Trump or DeSantis. I will not vote for a politician who supports shrinking rather than growing rights. I will not vote for a politician who has argued against our Constitution. I will not vote for a politician who has given aid or support to anyone who has tried to to the above things.
DeSantis is Trump with better language and a decent haircut. Lipstick on a pig. Trump is of course a shitbag. Biden is a weak alternative -- some things right, some things done badly.
It's a shame we don't have a Volodomir Zelinskyy here.

It’s starting to become apparent (to me, anyroad) that Trump doesn’t actually want to be President again, any more than he wanted it the first time. He’s not holding rallies, making incendiary speeches, etc. He’s simply fundraising.
It’s about the money. He’s going to keep sucking cash out of his dim witted supporters for as long as he can. This is a man for whom EVERYTHING is transactional - the only way he’ll stop interfering in politics is if the money dries up.

Running for President also means staying out of jail. ("Witch hunt, witch hunt, ..." chanting in the background.)
