It's the 2022 Midterm predictions!
RE: It's the 2022 Midterm predictions!
Oil prices have suddenly fallen $10 a barrel since the election.

My goodness. What a coincidence!

I’m sure no foreign actors were manipulating oil to drive up gas prices and impact our election.

True, but will the vote be recounted, in light of his concession? I wish that it would, and that eejit Boebert kicked to curb thereby. The US needs more sane leadership.

According to the article, the law requires a recount if the margin of victory is less than 0.5 of the winner’s total.

Blush You're right. Sometimes I get cynical for no reason...

Kari Lake, the losing Republican candidate for Arizona governor,
has lost in a courtroom after failing to convince a judge that
intentional misconduct was behind her defeat at the polls.
"The court cannot accept speculation or conjecture in
place of clear and convincing evidence," the judge said.

Next comes the Hacked Voting Machine gambit.

After that comes the Smeared Sharpie Pen Marks gambit.

Then the Dead Voters gambit...

The more Kari Lake barks, the stupider she looks. This shit didn't work for a President, with all those high-powered lawyers.

I think that the Democrats will control both Chambers.  Reason is simple, and that is polling is crap these days, and lots of young women are registering to vote, and they will vote Democrat due to the Roe v. Wade issue.

I’m not gonna lie. During the last couple of weeks heading into the election, I was bracing myself. I was telling myself “Don’t worry, as long as the GOP get 53 seats or less, it’ll be very hard for them to hit 60 in 2024.” Then those New Hampshire polls hit showing Bolduc up and I was freaking out because with 54 seats the GOP absolutely did have a pathway to 60 in 2024. Then the midterms happened and… relief is an understatement. I was elated. It would seem you were at least far more correct in your prediction than I was. I didn’t make any actual prediction but I was bracing for the absolute worst.

I underestimated Dobbs. I wanted to see it have a big effect, but all the polls were saying that abortion was low on everybody’s priority list. Those polls did not change until exit polling on Election Day, which showed for the first time, notably in the rust belt states, that abortion was polling at the top of the issues.

The polls were absolutely horrible. In fact I blame polls for preventing a senate win in Wisconsin.

alt.atheism is still there, sorta

Nice thing about Usenet (where alt.atheism lives) is that one can post there in a totally anonymous fashion via the Mixmaster remailer network. Moderation is very limited, which is both good & bad.
