I know they’re irrelevant to you, yes I understand your perspective is you’re right as you said you are. That you can’t grasp that this is circular is not my problem. If you’re able to justify what you think without implying that you’re right as you said so, or that you’ve already said why is a challenge for your low intellect to overcome. What is irrelevant to you holds no value as you cannot justify what you believe. You imply reiterate the same thing over and over again, thinking this justifies and substantiates what you believe. That you don’t understand this simply is further proof of the irrelevance of your continual repetition. Quote:It isn't a belief because there are no beliefs in atheism.Oh you said it’s not a belief. I think I get it now. Quote:.Quote:We reject the claims of theism and the rejection of theism is itself not a belief It’s a belief as you cannot prove nor know that many forms of theism are incorrect. Yelling no is not a valid position, so it’s a belief which is justified in your own mind through affirmations. Quote: If you cannot understand this simple explaination, then don't bother insulting the intelligence of those pointing this simple fact out to you and we would gladly explain what this means. You’ve had the chance and just continually state that you’re correct without justification. I’ve asked you to explain or at least point to a previous post, you have failed each time. Try again. Quote:I am, however, slightly more optimistic because i assume you understand and reject this explaination but instead of explaining why we're wrong (so we can better continue a discussion) and thus backing up your point with, at the very least, an explaination, then you're simply wasting our time. To continue in a discussion, you actually have to say something. . You write a lot but say nothing. Instead of saying it’s not a belief, justify, rationalise it. Otherwise fuck off as you have nothing to say. (December 8, 2011 at 12:02 am)Epimethean Wrote: If there were a Rushmore facepalm, I would post it here for you, Joop. You are wandering in a dark room, bumping into things and calling them all manner of words which are meaningless. The efforts of people here to explain to you your faulty reasoning are obviously falling on deaf ears. There is nothing you have offered and which merited response which has not been addressed. The rest of the bollocks you have continued to pile about has been quite rightly summarily dismissed. You have proceeded to insult people more and more openly while offering nothing to further the dialogue. Nothing there. Impressive. Rammstein seems a suitable band for someone such as you, great performers with no musical ability or substance.
Hey, Joop..
Atheism is not a belief. It's still a disbelief in deities and nothing more. Atheists are just people who don't believe in gods, and they have many different and varying views on everything aside from gods. The only thing that makes someone an atheist is their disbelief in gods. It's not as complicated as you so desperately wish it were. I know you're disappointed. It must suck to be you. 42
That you disbelieve something without proving means it's a belief. It must suck to have no idea why you're stupid, but then you wouldn't know that you are. So it probably wouldn't be that bad for you. Kinda like having down syndrome but not knowing it.
I have nothing to prove. I just don't believe in gods any more than I don't believe in unicorns. I will only believe in those things if I'm shown proof, but I'm not going to hunt down something in which I don't believe. I'm taking the position of disbelief.
You can insult me all you want, but you're still not right. Atheism is still not a belief, and you're probably still going to over think things and yourself into a hole. Have fun with that. 42

It means that one cannot mean the same as the other. You might as well be telling me that not having a car is the same thing as having a car. On what I'm guessing is your primary point, my rejection of god, faith in god, and religion is all founded on the 'evidence' of religion's complete lack of evidence. None of what religion has asserted has ever been proven beyond any kind of reasonable doubt and thus I have no reason to accept their claims as anything but horse shit. Given that there's no evidence for god, I don't need to prove anything to reject that claim because there's nothing in the world that gives that claim any merit. If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925 Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan
Is "I believe it to not be true" a belief?
If you know it's not true, then it's not true until then you have no foundation of stating you lack belief, you simply lack belief in a god. Your position is as solid as anyone else's. You're new here, so you might get one or two "play nices" from me, but that kind of bullshit is not going to fly. If you're going to insert personal insults, they have to be part of your argument. Example: Believing something without proof is stupid and you do that so at least part of you is stupid. Example of what not to do: I disagree with you. You're stupid.
I don't care how many play nices i get from you. Could 0, could be 1000. Don't care either way.
Love the "have to be part of your argument". Very funny.
Oh, that makes it easy, then.
