I also doubt these republicans on the debate would deliver on any of the promises they say they would make if they became elected.
I wish they wouldn't call them 'debates' because they aren't. They're campaign stops with a moderator who doesn't need to be there.

The GOP - holding debates to see who will be runner up, toddler wing holding the federal gov hostage with a shutdown looming, crowing about who can poop where, deleting bodily autonomy, raging about drag shows.... all while the cult lurches forward. disgusting.

It’s for veep and cabinet positions. The game is to lurch rightward of trump without criticizing trump. The end result is that trump will be the moderate in the reich wing cartel. I guess that’s one way to make him seem more electable - what with everyone around him being even less so.

The lockdown actually makes sense on their part, since they believe in less government interference.
But then they want the government as it is to adhere to their every demand.

My wife watched that circus, I heard snippets from the next room. We also got quite the laugh over the hypocrisy with "no gov" and having Federal laws prohibiting "x", practically in the same breath. SMH

Yet the conservative viewers gobble it up as though it is nutritious wisdom.

No kidding! You may know this, but the republican politicians are just using those conservative viewers for their own gain.
They only said stuff that would be positive and thus would please people, while trying to say negative things about the democrats. To simply put, they say it, but they don’t mean it.

I read an article recently by a Sociologist about this. Don't remember where, I cruise a lot of internet. His take was that they know about the lies, but ignore them and only respond to the dog whistles or talking points that they want to hear. To me, it's just like a religious huckster; some people just want to be in a crowd that believes. Example- the chump at one of his rallies in '16, "I've got the words...", crowd gets excited, "I've got the BEST words!", and the crowd goes nuts.
