The trouble is that the US military has suffered too many humiliating defeats. People are losing their fear of it.

Remember that the US left Lebanon in defeat. It completely lost in Afghanistan. The side it's backing in Ukraine is losing badly, and the Pentagon recently said that supplying weapons to Zelensky is "reaching the end of its rope." 

So the US doesn't look as invincible as it maybe once did. If Israel was beaten and the US humiliated again, the news would just shift its focus to some other crisis (probably China) and people would get all gung ho about the next thing.

The big picture: The decision came after an hour-long meeting with President Biden in Tel Aviv. Biden said he welcomed the decision and stressed aid would be suspended if Hamas tried to take control of it.

But I see another, more real big picture:

The USA is a bankrupted empire led by a senile president; similar to Rome's Nero.
Whenever an empire covers up for apartheid states; protects foreign war criminals like Netanyahu, then that empire is done for. It's collapsing and falling.

If the U.S's standards fell to this low; then it would be a miracle if it made it past the next elections, it would be a bigger miracle if it made it to the elections; even.

The funny thing is seeing Netanyahu pulling Biden behind him like a poor piece of cloth. So old. So sick.

I regret to inform you that Nero was not senile.  He died at age 30.   He spent profligately, but did not manage to bankrupt Rome.    Rome was on sound financial footing during that entire century and the next.       When Nero died, Roman Empire was but 82 years old.   It would have another 400 odds years to run if only count the western empire, and another 1400 years to run if you count also the East.
