I thought he did a decent job playing a spoiled child/emperor in "Gladiator," but in general, I have to agree.

That's true. I remember he was tragically funny as the poor sap that Nicole Kidman gets to kill her husband in To Die For too: "They gave me life plus thirty years, if I live that long."
