Introduction to Short Fiction, Purdue. The lead man in a blues band, during a set, tells his drummer his wife had just died. The drummer seems dubious but offers condolences. Later, at all night diner more details come out. She was cheating on him, her lover threw her out a window. Things like that. Everybody at the diner seems enthralled but had questions. He answered them with more details.
Terrible story for a college class? No, it was the lead man composing another blues song. Testing it out on his band members and his public.
Relevance: This would have been about the same time as Jelly was Rollin'.
Cool story. It’s got bugger all to to with Jelly Roll Morton, but still…

Gregory Hines was an excellent Jelly Roll Morton in Jelly's Last Jam. Saw it on Broadway in 1993.

I think we should start calling Zilla 'grandpa'. It seems to fit.

Music can be great therapy. I used it when I was going through cancer and am not sure if I would have done as well without it. Sometimes I used it to help drown out the worries in my head. Sometimes it was great for all the waiting I had to do before tests and waiting for doctors. It's good for you to figure out what helps your mind slow down.
When I made the break with my mother I had trouble with replaying conversations in my head or coming up with conversations I wished I had. My commute was the worst. I just couldn't turn my brain off...that's when I gathered my collection of stand up comedy.
If it works and it doesn't hurt anyone else...go for it.
