I've never been a fan of Dennett's work, but today on Twitter there are hundreds of tweets remembering what a thoughtful teacher he was, and how he treated even combative undergrads with respect and courtesy. 

These days university profs with his level of fame frequently turn out to have unpleasant episodes in their histories, exploiting that fame for sex or power. It's very nice indeed to hear that he was a genuinely good guy.
