Of course, I have to spell it out to a Christian: The stupidity is the notion that God intervened to save a church but not 215+ people who got killed.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Interesting how many churches have lightning rods…

According to the parish priest, Fr Fran Martinez, the church has not suffered any damage, something that many consider miraculous. Days before the disaster, the priest and a group of faithful brought a relic of the blood of St. Pius of Pietrelcina to the parish, trusting in his protection.
The community attributes the preservation of the church to the intercession of the saint, who, the parish priest believes, has kept the parish as a “oasis” amid the tragedy that, so far, has killed at least 214 people and left a large yet undetermined number of missing.

Or less than truthful/fake (but that's nothing new for catholics). Did you ask yourself why they didn't show the street level of the church in the second pic?

Ooo, I know this one! It’s because topography is a better explanation than miracles.

You don't want a series of pics showing churches and statues of Jesus destroyed by nature and Hindu and Shinto shrines spared by disasters, do you? Because that's how you get them.

A mullah is reciting a surah and then spitting water onto people who drink it because they believe it will protect them from diseases and troubles.

One I oft hear repeateded, is when religious people (and some others) claim "you have to be an expert on their specific versions of their specific religion, before you can disbelieve it".
So if you have never read the Legends of Hercules, and studied all opinions, well, you see where I am going. Not read a single Harry Potter novel, wizards are real, way-hay....not read Aristotle's (insert something relevant) then you're making a fool of yourself by not believing what he said in (insert something relevant to what he said in previously relevant tome).

If I haven't tasted unicorn poop ice cream I have to believe it/they exist? Nice!
