Random Thoughts
RE: Random Thoughts
James Bond movies never show the part where the supervillain collects government subsidies to build his death tech.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Thanksgiving makes me feel inferior. It's like, my mom is thinking, "Lol....I managed to trap that poor sucker at our crappy Thanksgiving dinner for yet another year, hahaha oh boy when will he learn?"

Have you thought about saying ‘no’?

When I sleep, I have dreams about being a female. Maybe not all dreams mean something, but I think these ones definitely do.

Anyone want to come cuddle with the damn brick-hard turkey that's been supposedly thawing in the fridge since Tuesday?

Try the water thawing thing.

If it's not thawed in two days, then it's probably over ten pounds. Water thawing require 30 minutes per pound, so basically 5+ hours just to thaw. A typical 15-pounder would require 7+ hours. Then you have to cook it.

Water thawing was my first thought too. It might be workable given the specifics, but ordering out seems more likely.

That, or cooking from frozen. I have no clue on that technique, but there are plenty of people promoting the method on Youtube and elsewhere. A few hundred degrees in an oven will thaw a turkey faster than cold water.

If it's small enough, supposedly you can thaw it in the microwave, too, but that's not something I would do.

Since we aren't doing Thanksgiving till tomorrow, maybe I will be okay.  But while prepping other things in the morning a turkey bath may be part of the deal.

And to Boda - it's a 17 pound turkey.

It's interesting how doing it every year doesn't decrease the likelihood of issues.

I had a seven year break and I am old and forgetful.
