Fear of death
#81
RE: Fear of death
God is the final word yet we know of no god? How can you attribute a final word to a so far non existent being?

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

WOW! what a bunch of nothingness, I didn't know they allowed people in the institution to have access to computers because the flash of the screen makes you worse. Bet you smuggled it in didn't you, and the flash of the screen is having an adverse effect on your mind. Keep it up and your brain will melt away and you will be forever a nut. As far as my statement goes I gave an opinion not a demand, you believe as you like and I'll do the same, you on one side, I on the other and at the end of time and the beginning of eternity we'll see who was right in their belief.

Just because you do not know the living God of creation and the Savior of mankind does not mean he does not exist.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

You think that god will give you a fucking galaxy to look after, and you call this guy nuts? Are you for real?

Er we all will see who was right, not just you.

Taking the massive assumption that we don't end up as nothingness, of course.

Not if you're wrong about Allah or Thor or Zeus. For all we know, you end up in hell and non believers go to heaven. Goes both ways. You have a reason to fear if Islam is the correct religion.

As an atheist, I see no reason to fear death. Death is the end of biological function and I am biological. Death is a natural part of my existence. Nothing to fear. Just won't exist anymore.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

And just because you think you do know he exists does not mean you can claim authority of his word to settle a debate. All it does, is it just completes the circle and we're always back to the start.

This will seem like nit picking to you, Godschild, but there can be no beginning of eternity. This makes my point about how your believe in zombiehood clouds your appreciation of the life you definitely have right now. Eternity not only includes now but the bitch of it for you is that the only eternity possible for us is what can be found in now. Toss now aside and you are truly screwed. Well I guess you do have whatever satisfaction it is you find in anticipating your future career as a zombie. That is something that you have now and I don't.

Our only wish is to be your zombies forever, licking your boots when they become soiled and eating the brains of all who resist the zombiehood you have made available for the righteous. Amen.

What if God actually answers your prayer, what then?

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question. Believe me no one could be any more surprised that I. But that's what Thorazine is for, right?

But let's give you the benefit of the hypothetical. I guess I'd say I was just kidding and that I didn't really want to be a zombie or make other zombies for him or lick his boots. I'd tell him I was pretty disappointed if this was how he chose to wield his hocus pocus powers. But eventually I'd have to wake up cause shit this weird only belongs in our dreams.

Yep, Reverend Henry Kane. The friendly face of the church. Look at that welcoming smile and tell me you wouldn't trust him with your 'eternal soul', or your money - or your children.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I kind of thought he looks like Christian Shepard from "Lost". Minus the creepy suit, of course.

Many people think he looks like Fred Phelps:

except that one of these men is the stuff of nightmares, an undead twisted monster who infects innocent minds, while the other was in Poltergeist 2.

That always reminds me of the Phil Collins song. I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes... Didn't know one could read scripture and actually go there, did you?

Oh, that's right. Insanity is to be pitied and ridiculed. Children always rebel against their parents. I can't help but wonder if that is why you people are here. You get to run through your lives with your smug sense of self-assurance, passing out your hate and disgust of all the lesser creatures; then when it's all over, you realize you were a spectator in your own life. You get to see the price of your disdain, live it all again; only this time as a real being, helpless in the background, as this empty shell you now inhabit makes a mockery of love and grace.

Don't you ever see it, when you look in the mirror, this empty thing you are? I see you, huddled in the corner with your security blanket, thinking if you repeat the name again and again, it will somehow be real. You people cannot even stand near me in life. All safe and secure behind your keyboard, yet you couldn't even pass by me on the street without knowing what you are; and what you are not.

I don't get any pleasure in this. It's something to do while I wait around for the next phase to begin. I don't carry around any baggage of hate, as there's always someone like you around, taking it out of my hands; doesn't even cost me a thing. Thanks for that, anyway.

Yeah, but I am nuts. Wink

And when we're done here, we don't look back; that's their job. They will figure it out sooner or later. No big.
