Beyond that back to the snoozefest I suppose...
Edit: A quick Google indicates numerous accusations of sheltering priests accused of sexual crimes against children, so the merry go round continues...

I'll be happy once the media blitz has abated. To me, this is a matter of plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose, and changes nothing for me or how I view this scourge -- err, church.
I feel sorriest for the millions of Africans who will still have to cope with the RCC's influence over their laws and politics, resulting in more HIV cases, more anti-LGBTQ laws, and more strife between Christianity and Islam.
Choosing a fairly centrist American cardinal as the new pope strikes me as the RCC trying to send a message without making any notable change ... a distinction without a difference, as it were.

Seems like a decent enough guy for a pope to me. He sounds much more like Pope Frances than Pope Palpatine before him. Best of all, he's pissing off the MAGAts because he's critical of Trump. He spoke out against orange turd as far back as 2015 during his first campaign.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

He's soft on immigrants and pedos, and hasn't proposed throwing lgbtq people off of roofs. Yet. He was never going to be a maga darling.

I was surprised at how quickly the new pope was elected. I expected the cardinals to take several votes over a couple of weeks.
