The Absurd GOP
RE: The Absurd GOP
Quote:One bizarre element of the Republican effort to signal that their party is working overtime to end the shutdown, even as Trump golfs in Florida, was a social media post on Saturday from Markwayne Mullin, an Oklahoma senator. Mullin posted four photographs of himself and two other Republican senators meeting with Trump in the Oval Office, with the caption: “Working through the weekend with President Donald J Trump. It’s always an honor to be in the Oval Office– I never take this opportunity to serve Oklahoma for granted.”

What Mullin failed to make clear is that the photographs were taken on Friday, before Trump left for a weekend golf trip at his Florida resort. Mullin himself had previously posted one of the photographs in a social media video Friday night.

Megyn Kelly Questions Whether Child Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein Counts as a Pedophile: 'He Liked the Very Young Teen Type'

Megyn Kelly went on to allege that she knew "somebody very, very close" to the Epstein case "who is in a position to know virtually everything." She claimed the unidentified individual "told me, from the start years and years ago, that Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile."

"He was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls. And I realize this is disgusting. I'm definitely not trying to make an excuse for this," she continued. "I'm just giving you facts, that he wasn't into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby."

The host then claimed, "We have yet to see anybody come forward and say, 'I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview.' You can say that's a distinction without a difference. I think there is a difference. There's a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?"

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

My hair-splitter's in the shop for sharpening. Sounds an awful lot like the Catholic Church rationalizations of two decades ago. Those girls couldn't give consent, ergo, you and your customers committed and/or abetted rape.

This is unfortunately a very common attitude. Especially among Christians.

There's this idea ingrained in religion where women (and that includes any over the age of puberty) are responsible for anything to do with sex, while men aren't. Women are expected to 'control themselves', even if they're not the age of consent, while men are just supposed to be animals (but women shouldn't dare prefer to meet a Bear!) My mother and I both had kids very young, got married very young. And even now I still have a hard time viewing either of us as victims. We said yes. The only problem is, neither of us had the capacity to say 'yes'. Even if we thought we did. There's this idea that girls past puberty are supposed to say 'no'. Not that men are supposed to be the responsible ones. Combined with a lower age of consent in the past, and you get this idea that the onus is on girls to say 'no', not for boys to. For men to.

Obviously there's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old. Guess what else that means? There's a difference between a 15 year old girl, and a 25 year old man. Nevermind a 45+ year old man. And they're different In the same way there's a difference between hijacking a plane and flying it into a building, and hijacking a plane and flying it into a house. Sure, one is worse. But they're BOTH fucking bad. And it's time we stop excusing men of their behaviors. For as puritan of attitudes as we have about sex in this country, it never seems to apply to men.
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

The puritanical bent is a weapon against the wrong kinds of men just as much as it's a cudgel to beat down the wrong kinds of women. Any guy who believes otherwise is a sucker.

Also, don't forget that the same people defending pedophilia have spent years trying to convince the public that drag queens and trans people are a threat to children.
It's all smoke and mirrors to allow the real predators to roam free.

I saw a clip from a podcaster who often gets magats calling in and he frequently rips them apart.

He was literally speechless when one asked him, "what's wrong with raping little girls?"

And he kept asking over and over again, "you can't answer, csn you?"

They have finally reached the level of, "well it's okay so long as it's Trump raping the children!"

What next, "what were the girls wearing"?

'They shouldn't have been there"?

1) That's not what "Barely Legal" means. "Barely Legal" is eighteen or nineteen. Maybe sixteen or seventeen if you're taking into account states with younger Age of Consent laws, but that can still have other legal consequences. The only circumstance where I can see a fifteen-year-old being technically legal in America is maybe in a jurisdiction with a Romeo and Juliet law, and there's no way in Hell that applies to Jeffy.

2) For the record, the youngest alleged victim (at least as far as we know) was 11. She was Jane Doe XIII in this lawsuit.

Who the fuck is this?

If you're asking "the podcaster or the nonce?" The answer is yes.

The podcaster because, frankly, this new devolution in MAGA "thought" just has to be seen to be believed.

The nonce because, to quote Rust Cohle, "that person is a piece of shit - and I'd like to get as many of them out in the open as possible."

I hope that reposting this incident wouldn't fall under the "rape apology" rule.

(Bold mine)

No, because no AF member is apologizing for rape or excusing those who do.
