Quote:The researchers of the new paper concluded: "Outward displays of belief in God may be viewed as a proxy for trustworthiness … believers may consider atheists' absence of belief as a public threat to cooperation and honesty." This probably explains recent electoral successes of openly devout presidential candidates who previously demonstrated dubious ethics, while also explaining the absence of any serious candidates without known religious affiliation.
Make America Great Again! Trump 2020
FUCK YEAH RICK PERRY IS RIGHT!
Damn atheists are ruining this country. After all just like all great leaders were religious all great contributors were too! Damn atheist scientists didn't do shit for us... Oh FUCK..... never mind. Believing in beat stick morality, you do or die, clearly makes you a more moral person! The damn ignorance of people in this country really is a buzz kill. RE: The terror of religion

There is always the fine example of how science and the advances it brings came to a crashing halt in the Middle East in 1100CE thanks to religion and Al Ghazali's contributions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Ghazali
It has not recovered since and has been steadily deteriorating in places "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5

An atheist is a dissenter. They go against popular, public opinion. Mob mentality drives the belief in God. God has strength in numbers and for someone to test that "cooperation" is ostracized from the group. Even though most believers deep down inside have their own doubts and skepticism toward their religion, they prefer to suppress it in order to 'fit in' and be socially accepted. This situation also appiles to political issues. That's why 'religion and politics' is something that most people don't talk about because there are deep seated emotional conflicts within themselves that are waiting to explode and manifest in potentially violent ways. Everybody knows that politics and religion are both fucked up, but we don't want to address them directly, because they rule our lives. We feel helpless and small in the face of such mass ignorance. People just don't realize that the belief in a Christian God is a terrible hindrance to everything. A Buddha on the other hand, who is only human, can bestow much better wisdom and peace than any other imaginary symbol of divinity. God is dead, which is a good thing, because he has always got in the way of social and personal progress.
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. Buddha Quote:A Buddha on the other hand, who is only human, can bestow much better wisdom and peace than any other imaginary symbol of divinity. Then you do not understand the need of the lunatic fringe to have a magic sky-daddy they believe is watching them every moment of the day. A wise human would be a poor substitute. + = I'm scared already. Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam

Just wait until the inquisition rises again under Romney, Santorum, or another one of those idiots. Ostracism – infringing directly on the constitution – is the first sign of that coming inquisition. And ostracism is already happening: Jessica Ahlquist is the (atheist) witch, and she is being hunted and ostracized by her own community! |
