IMO, it's better to accept evolution in any context than it is to deny it.

These kids should be worried, because universities are liberal, anti-religion brainwashing stations.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Yeah, its the start point I'm concerned about. I wonder if there is a review of this book somewhere so we could get a clue how he manages this amazing juxtaposition.

Thanks, I also went looking and found this...which is fairly typical of the batshit crazy fundie reaction.

http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles...-to-choose

Quote:The trouble is that this apologetic for evolutionism fails to start from the primacy of Scripture, even though the first two chapters ostensibly tackle scriptural issues. However, they do so by using the classic arguments to “explain away” problems of harmonising evolution with Scripture, rather than face up to the incompatibility of the two philosophies.

The reaction of the certifiable nuts to this book reminds me of this quote from H. L. Mencken.

Quote:The effort to reconcile science and religion is almost always made, not by theologians, but by scientists unable to shake off altogether the piety absorbed with their mother's milk.

Hardly better if the half hearted acceptance on this issue allows them them to embrace the unique dictates of christianity in others.

Why the heck would anybody bring that book into a University in Britain? and is a progressive Uni as well.

Were they reading it for humour?

I once watched a whole creationist programme hosted by some prissy woman and a guy with a beard and no moustache (always a bad sign), I had tears of laughter in my eyes by the end, it was the funniest hour of television I have ever seen.
