Shoot First

I'm surprised noone posted this. It's a story that's been blowing up everywhere in the US.
Zimmermann was head of Neighborhood Watch in Sanford, Florida. He shot Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen who was going to the store for an iced tea and skittles, after making a 911 call during which he used a racial slur. Zimmermann said that Martin was "suspicious" but as you can hear in the call has no real reason to think so and is told not to approach him and to let the police handle it. This is all part of the "Stand Your Ground" (also known as "Shoot First") law which entitles a person to use deadly force in response to a percieved threat. The percieved threat in this case: a racist saw a black person. Martin had no prior charges and was visiting his dad's fiancee in the gated community where he was shot. The bottom link is the 911 call in which Zimmermann calls Martin a "fucking coon". The worst part is that Zimmermann was not detained because what he did was LEGAL under Florida law. The feds are trying to bring a case against him but for the moment he is a free man.
I hope they fry this racist prick and then do something about this out of control law that protects people who shoot first and ask questions later.
