Gary Streeter (Con), Gavin Shuker (Lab) and Tim Farron (Lib Dem) say that they want the Advertising Standards Authority to produce “indisputable scientific evidence” to say that prayer does not work – otherwise they will raise the issue in Parliament.

The MPs wrote to dispute the ruling after the outpouring of support and prayer for football star Fabrice Muamba.

Last month, a Christian group in Bath were banned from using leaflets that said: “NEED HEALING? GOD CAN HEAL TODAY!… We believe that God loves you and can heal you from any sickness.”

The ASA said the claims were misleading and could discourage people from seeking essential medical treatment.

Probably not as stupid but they do come pretty close. No matter what country you're in, politicians SUCK!

They're trying to shift the burden of proof. They claim prayer works, and so it's down to them to prove it. In the mean time it remains dismissed as complete nonsense.
Also religion should have no place in government. Ever.

is unacceptable, insensitive and politically incorrect. I know they're Christian MPs but what the fuck were they thinking when they wrote that garbage?

It was the combined efforts of the doctors and medics who ran onto the pitch that saved that man's life.

How dare they suggest they didn't also want his full recovery, same as those who were praying for him. I wouldn't be half surprised if the ASA demanded an apology for that remark and what they were insinuating. I know I bloody would.
