I don't know the breed. Australian terrier of some kind? Nice soulful eyes.

Exactly. He had an unusual coloring though, black/tan and sand are more common. He's chilling in the pictures, thus the 'soulfulness', but usually he was more an on the go kind of guy with an really intense (and sometimes vacant) glare

There must be quite a few dog breeds down under that we wouldn't know. The only ones I knew of were Kelpies and Cattle Dogs (heelers). When my wife visited she naively told everyone about our Australian Shepherd - which no one had ever heard of. It is really an American breed and not all that old.

I took this photo of him in the garden earlier this week on a warm day. When he pants hard he smiles even bigger than normal.

Anyone know why male dogs would have a special sort of attraction for me? I know it sounds funny, but it's actually a serious question. Ever since childhood, any male dogs I am around become viciously protective of me, follow me around and sometimes try to hump me. (even the fixed ones)

My grandmother had a dachshund who would stand at my crib and growl at people who got too close. Seems okay. Kinda cute that he'd protect the baby, though he never did that for me little bro.

We had a bichon frise when I was growing up who sat on top of me when I slept and barked/growled at anyone who entered my room.

My friend's dog did the same thing and even bit her once when she was brushing my hair.

My friend's 14 year old dog, Snoopy, does it when I go over to her house. I've only been there a handful of times, but when I am there, he sits next to me and growls at the people who have cared for him his whole life should they get too close to me. It's really weird.

Anyone have any idea? My sister is a vet and she says it's the damndest thing ever.

I'm not sure about why that would happen when you were so young or with your friend's dog. In the case ones own dog I've read that can happen if a dog isn't clear about who is in charge. More often this shows when you have guests over and a dog continues to sound the alarm or even act aggressive toward your guests. Rather than accept your lead in judging the 'intruder', they feel they have to make sure themselves .. if they don't accept you as alpha.

My dog went into doggie hospital today. He has a problem with his liver apparently, I hope they can sort it.

Chase if my pup's favorite game. D: She doesn't chase after the ball, she chases after the dogs that are chasing after the ball.

That's exactly what my dog does Unless ofcourse you have a ball on a stick. Then he goes mental for it and chases it.
