I really shouldn't entertain your silly arguments anymore, because they are completely off base.
You really believe in a man who has helped to save the world twice, with the power to change his physical appearance? An alien who travels though time and space--in a police box?!?

He was essentially King of country and could have whatever he pleased. We all die eventually, and he lived a reasonably long life and didn't get 10000000000th of what he deserved. And certainly if you won't accept this example there are others. How so? If there is an afterlife he is in hell. If not, you will probably have led a more boring and less pleasure filled life and certainly you will both end your lives at the grave. My point is not that this shows that God exists. My point is that I can understand why one would be depressed after becoming an atheist because of it. RE: feeling depressed after becoming atheist

Because it sounded like you were making a sweeping statement that you thought no-one could refute. It had little to do with the point that was being made. Quote:Like someone already said. Cheer up I'm not sure how taking God out of the equation makes life any less amazing. With or without a god existence is just as impossible and infinite as it always has been. I myself am glad to be a part of that impossibility. I see no way your statement has anything to do with what BrotherMagnet said. He's talking about a state of existence. You're talking about punishment of dictators. How do you equate the two? And another thing, where do you get off comparing my life to Hitler's? So what, if there's no god I'm supposed to envy the material and wealth he possessed in his life? I do not believe he is burning in eternity, but in the end he was not a happy man. This is such an irrelevant argument but you're just being that completely ridiculous.

Well you telling us you feel all better now has effectively killed the discussion before it started.
Advice: Please talk to your GP in future if you suffer from these sudden bouts of depression. ... And someone knock that idiot Jeff off his soapbox.
I find it rather funny and interesting how people fear so much the end of their existence that they'll hold on to the biggest lies and pretend that they're true just to feel comfortable. Just because you want something to be true won't make it true. Either there is an afterlife or there isn't.
Like it or hide under your bed covers.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. |
