feeling depressed after becoming atheist

Only a year?
Well done! Took me at least two - five to get to the Atheist label. "The Universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements: energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest." G'Kar-B5
How is the atheism and depressed connected?

If God does exist and is the source of all goodness, it is no surprise that you lost your happiness when you lost your faith in God. Decent point, however, what I made was just a suggestion, not necessarily applicable in all cases due to the fact that rules have exceptions. Like someone already said. Cheer up I'm not sure how taking God out of the equation makes life any less amazing. With or without a god existence is just as impossible and infinite as it always has been. I myself am glad to be a part of that impossibility.
A reformed Muslim? I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am for you. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Don't let anyone cause you to doubt yourself. You've made the right choice for yourself.
You really believe in a man who has helped to save the world twice, with the power to change his physical appearance? An alien who travels though time and space--in a police box?!?
