As stated above this is an open PUBLIC forum.

Are you SURE you want the entirety of your pathetic life on here exposed to those who see the word atheism and dive back into their protective little shells?? Are you certain you want to expose your failure??
Indeed it is. But like I said I told one of you that I had no intention to share what goes on here with any other members of the church I was attending. something changed and now I want to share what goes on here with a few church members.

I said one thing now have an oppertunity to benfit by going back on what was said. I simply did not think it right to say one thing and do another and benfit from it without sharing what has changed.

I am still welcome to attend, just not partisipate 'unsupervised.'

Quote:You have to go through actual interviews to get into a church??
The interview is for a possiable teaching position.

Quote:Wow, they [the churches] have some awfully bloated opinions on their relevance and worth in the world, don't they?
They are simply being faithful to their understanding of the bible.

Quote:I wouldn't tell them you consort with atheists. They'll probably kick you out on your ass almost instantly. Churches are awfully quick to judge despite the teachings of their messiah telling people to never do that. Proof: You have to go through an interview, which is essentially a judgment panel.
The command is "Judge not lest you be judged in the same way you judge others." Meaning whatever you use to judge other people that standard will be used to judge you. The command is not: "Don't judge." The command is: "Don't be a hipocrite."

Quote:But hey, I won't say you shouldn't use anything here for said interview; by all means, cherry-pick that which works for you and that which does not...er...I mean...I am sure you'll be completely fair and unbiased about what you've read and engaged in here.
If I was looking to do this dishonestly then why would I ask to use any of this above board?

(October 22, 2012 at 7:33 am)Faith No More Wrote: Since this is an open, anonymous forum on the internet, I see no problem with you using discussions here for your interview, and I do commend you for asking what everyone thinks first. I am, like the others, confused as to what you think showing these discussions would accomplish.

(BTW, you might not want to show them your thread on soulless, monkey men hypothesis.)

To give an honest assessment of what it is I believe and how I go about presenting it, even in the face of stern/strongly worded opposition.

The 'Monkey Man' Thing being at the top of the list. I want them to know how what kind of crazy they are getting themselves into. If they can provide sound biblical direction that dispells my theory then I will gladly yeild to it. If not, and they ask me not to teach it I can do that too.

Perhaps you could provide a link. I steer so many away it is hard to remember who is who.

(15 to 20 hours a week +/-) This is literally a part time job's worth of time. I am not here to argue for the sake of argueing I am here to provide biblically accutate answers and clarity for the questions you all ask. This involves alot of work. (for the lack of a better term)
I think you're here to repeat that mantra of yours, regardless of it's accuracy. If this is a part time job your quality of work is appalling, and I wouldn't add it to a cv of any sort. If you think that something you've posted here will increase or effect your odds of getting a teaching job at some church I think you need to consider a different church. Any organization that reads what you've written here and thinks to themselves "shit yeah, this guy has some quality stuff" isn't worth the time you apparently put into your responses. Aim higher Drich.

I say if you want to point to this site as an example of your mission work, go for it, however, exactly how many of the heathens have agreed with you?

I think there are 1 or 2 who have openly asked questions on the side and who have said they will take another look at their faith. There are a whole lot more who still 'challenge/seek.'

Their faith? Ah, so, you've been casting the net over those that already swallowed the hook have you? Good for you. Fisher-fail.

That's what I was about to say.

Meanwhile, I have heard of people being shunned from churches (or at least a portion of the church's congregants) simply for being reasonable human beings.

I really haven't dug into Drich's story here and don't have the attention span currently since I have a sinus headache, but a good friend of my boyfriend got cussed over the phone by a woman from her church who didn't like that she was supporting gay rights and various other "liberal" things. Not very "christian" of her to be accepting and loving of all human beings, apparently.

All we are charged with as a christian is to honor and be faithful to our understanding of what He has given us. If the woman on the phone's best understanding of christianity was to call up your friend and scream at her, then she was required to do that. However if she was just being a self righteous busy body and could not keep to her busniess because her 'morality' told her she had to act... Then that is between her and God.

That sounds like a shitty special pleading argument, Drich.

I think you'd do yourself a better service having them ask you questions in a written format and answering them using Word for spell check and having someone proof-read it than showing them this website. Just an honest opinion.
I am sure something like that will eventually happen, this is just a real world example of what I believe and how I interact/communicate what I believe.

Well, I started out under another name, but I don't think you were being very active at the time. After that I spent a long time in a coma, having repeatedly bashed my head against a brick wall during a discussion with the OP.

I'm much better now, they put rubber on the walls.
