Y'know, even amongst Catholics, a lot of people support same sex marriage. The only difference between this kid and a lot of the rest of the Catholics out there is that this kid had the guts to stand up for himself.

Let's not forget that, even in catholicism, there's a large & politically active LGBT community. As a group, whenever stories like this turn their leadership to bigotry, the talk often turns to feeling the pain of ostracisation; try to imagine what it must be like when the 'representatives of your spirituality' actively oppose something as fundamentally personal as your sexuality.

For me, the population of pro-same-sex-marriage catholics is indicative of the way that humanistic ethical selection pervades even the strictest dogma.
