I did that, with my now ex wife. I simply refused to believe that lightning could strike twice in the same place.

I was right. My ex turned out to have all of her mothers faults, and few of her virtues.(such as character and generosity of spirit)Devil

A bit of a tangent. I just read a local news article about immigration in Canada.

Canada accepts a lot of refugees, and they'll pay for their transportation and fees and whatnot, with a $14,000 loan. Apparently 38% of refugees are below the poverty line, and have been unable to pay back these loans. A spokesperson called the idea of making these refugees pay for their transport "shameful" and "unconscionable".

What do you guys think? Should refugees have to pay to flee danger of death and torture?

You can see me battling the locals in the comments. I personally think it should be expected that they pay, but if a family is below the poverty line we shouldn't expect them to be making payments. That's counter-productive.

Certainly not! That's mean, Australia would never do such a thing..

Being an island, our navy can catch them at sea before they get here.We then bung them in concentration camps off shore. We used to have the camps in desert here, but they were far too visible..Voters got upset over the rapes, hunger strikes and suicide attempts. I kid you not.

We pay for the refugees who arrive with permission. We allow a few hundred highly qualified professionals a year.
