At a worldwide atheist population rate of 10~20%, it's likely that someone you know is atheist.... but may not disclose such information to you, who are an Irish catholic descendant and who most likely thinks 'atheist' is a dirty word!
You don't go out of your way to tell everyone around you that you're an atheist.... it stands to reason that others would act the same.
Rant over!

I know you are joking, Aractus, but I just want to remind you of the Special Intro Rule:
Whilst we are generally lenient with insulting language / rudeness in other forums, this kind of behaviour is explicitly disallowed in the Introductions forum..
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Winks are a solid way to show one is ribbing. Don't get your hair all tangled into a braid, Kay

You may both have a bit of a point on this one. On one side I agree with Violet, it seems clear that he was in gest, but playing devil's advocate, he is listed as an Anglican (christian) and that does imply that there might be a little underhanded barb in there.
I'm not saying there was but if I compare it to myself, I could say something like this to a christian introducing himself:
you gullible dumb christian.
Am I kidding or am I not kidding? I think at the very least Kay has a valid post.

I'd love to make some friends here since I don't know many atheists in real life (I still live with my mother while I attend a local college, and in our house, "atheist" is a dirty word).
How does your mom feel about "pedophile priest?"
Welcome aboard. I abandoned NY for the desert in 2005 and am also a former catholic although of Italian heritage.
